  1. Ok first things first you go to work to preform a job not to make lifelong friends. If you have never had a patient complaint I'd let your performance review speak for itself. I would ask for specific examples of what this aide is referring to. I find it a little hard to believe that an employer would take the opinion of one person and place you on probation without valid reasoning, if this is the case I'd evaluate weather or not I still want to work there. Yes sometimes personalities do clash I'd simply state that you do not feel she is making these claims in good faith and that despite this issue you can still work alongside her in a Professional courteous manner. I wish you all the best just remember to remain calm and try to get your point across in an effective manner. Allow your work to speak for itself I'm sure in the end it will all work out for the best
  2. I had an incident at work last week looking for insight. As I was going through my MAR I accidently signed for a gt flush...after realizing it I left it flagged instead of crossing it out. I had to take the tf down at 6 anyway. Unfortunately I had to leave early after an incident with my supervisor she was yelling at me and I asked her to stop (it was a personal issue not work related) she couldnt seperate the 2 and she sent me home refusing to take report from me. She then proceeded to search for anything and everything I could have done wrong and found that 1 thing signed and flagged for 6 am. then reported me. After explaining the situation to the DNS she stated that it was considered falsifying documents and I could lose my license for it. I told her if I was actually trying to do something wrong why were all the other 160 meds due at 6am not signed for. I remain on suspension pending investigation scared outta my mind that my license is gone. Basically I was told it is in corporates hands.....so I sit and wait. I guess my question is can I really lose my license for such a stupid mistake?
  3. ummmm gosh i hope my post wasnt taken like an insult. like i said i was a cna for 8 yrs it is a very rewarding job but you get treated like crap from most nurses, as well as not being taken seriously.those who try to deny this fact arent being honest.the posted asked for opinions and this is what i stated...i never meant for it to seem like a "status" thing. why would someone with a high level of education assume a position in which he/she is way overqualified only to be treated as inferior -it gets boring.the poster obviously likes science...which nursing is. in nursing school they start off teaching you how to be a cna this is why so many ppl with no medical experiance can go into nursing school-they start with the basics. granted yes being a cna did help me in nursng school but only for the first 2 months.any whom are reading please do not take offense my tone is meant to be a civil conversation........
  4. salaam alaikom i am an american muslim whom just recently became a nurse. honestly the best advice i can give is treat the patient the way you want to be treated. i never had an issue. when i told my patients i would do something i always came through.it is important to establish this type of trust with any patient. stereotypes will break down you will see. i never went into detail about religion. in re to my hijab i just explained it as "its like what the nuns wear" this seemed to make it easier to understand without making it akward. your collegues will learn to see you for who you are not what falsified info they hear. may Allah make it easy for you. also try new ways to do hijab to make it easy to put in your stethoscope i wear mine spanish style with a turtleneck pinned at the side im still all covered with easy access after all it would be unprofessional to be fussing with all the fabric to do an assessment just a tip :) contact me anytime...ma salaam
  5. honestly it would be a waste of your time. just jump right in and go to nursing. i think a cna job would bore you. i was a cna for 8 yrs before becoming a nurse. so not worth it money wise either. neurobiology wow!!! aim high!!!
  6. although i am an lpn im sure this info might help you. try getting test books from different publishers. dont just go by saunders. princeton hall is another good one or even lippencott. my teachers told me that if you continuously take questions no matter if you get them right or wrong it increases your chance of success. i seriously did 200 quest a day. i sat for boards last week and passed at 86. dont get discouraged!!!!! it is possibly due to test anxiety. you know this stuff-you would not have gotten this far if you didnt. keep positive do not kill yourself studying. like i tell my friends----turn,cough,and deep breathe.....its gonna be fine. oh and btw borders wont kick you out sit get the books and study it free hahahahahahaha us nursing students just love free.seriously you can do this think positive brush up on your weak stuff and let me know when you PASS-BECAUSE YOU WILL!!!!!!!
  7. sorry to say my friend it just gets worse.me-6 wks from graduation-never knew stress like this.stay focused, dont slack and give yourself credit for what you accomplished so far.one bad grade isnt gonna hurt it just keeps you from getting a big ego lol youll do it!
  8. i hope you informed your school and went to the dr. you should have had a baselinbe lab study done so if something freakish happens in a few months from now you had proof you werent infected---its a liability issue.look into this---hope ur well
  9. hey all.......just needed a little support from those of you who feel my stress. well 6 weeks left in my lpn prog. oh my how the stress has piled on. it seems unrelenting and besides that all the what if's......what if i fail/what if this/ what if that. should i just scream now or what? lol.......anyone else here close to grad? interested in hearing your views. good luck to you all in your studies......we will get through this!
  10. hi im in the mod 5 lpn class in lincoln tech but i am in connecticut.a little insight about our program......it is very intense!!!! and full of stress but it is completly do-able.i graduate in 3 months god willing.my only and best advice is to focus hard! study hard! and just know there is no time for a personal life. you must take it seriously and give the course the respect it deserves.stay to yourself, dont worry about helping your friends pass its hard enough to do it on your own...and besides no one will help you if you start drowning-if you dont believe me you will see-people get very shady when you have success and they dont .pace yourself and do not fall behind in the reading.id be glad to help you with tough subjects as im sure the material is the same.please dont take this as a discouragement........im being as honest as i can.you can do it if you give it all you got,and in the end there is relief.good luck to you...i wish you well
