  3. Hey, everyone. I have been searching for jobs in NYC and have numberous interviews. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on Maimonides Hospital, or SIUH. I plan on coming to NYC towards the end of this month so I can do all of my interviews and apartment/home searching. Any advice in general about relocating would also be appreciated! :) Thanks!

  6. Oh, and Jason, GET OVER YOURSELF, IT SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL ISSUE! Mr. high and mighty nurse guy with every letter in the alphabet behind your name, it's called S-T-A-N-D-A-R-D-S- YOU GET IT! Obviously not maybe you can trade in all that advanced training of yours and get you some. If not I know of a couple of LPNs who could lend you some of theirs!!!
  7. Look, I was an LPN fo 5 years and NO they will not be gettin rid of them any time soon. Yes, LPNs deserve just as much respect as an RN, and sometimes they can even teach us (RNs) a thing or two, but that doesn't mean that they are equal. I used to say that the only difference between an LPN and an RN was a couple of college classes and I never understood why LPNs and RNs were paid/treated different. Boy, was I wrong. I put my "money where my mouth was" and went to RN school. ( For one year of nursing plus all the prereqs., because of my LPN I was allowed to skip the first year) There is a HUGE difference between the two, RN's are taught and prepared to handle certain situations that LPN school doesn't prepare you for. The RN has alot more expectations to meet and I would in no way, dare try to do the RN's job while I was an LPN. So if you really want the job, and everything else that comes with that title, go back and get your RN. It really is possible, and you will be happy you did. I know I am! So, to all my beloved LPN's...Yes, us RN's do appreciate you, I would not be able to do my job without you! You are just as important as we are. Don't ever consider yourselves less than that. We need to join up as a team in nursing, or else our profession will suffer. Enough said by me. :)

  16. okay, i don't know whether i should slit my wrists now or wait until i'ts official!! i took the nclex yesterday(less than 12 hours after recieving my att via email) :angryfire , it shut off at 75 and i thought i would die. i wanted to shake it and yell "please come on mr computer, i promise to do better!" the questions were a mixture of easy and hard. toward the end their difficulty became a little vauge, but i am still not really understanding what the test rates as hard or easy. can somenoe help with that? i had 3 hepatitis in a row(toward the end), ie, pt. teaching with hepa, 1 condoms with her hubby 2. have another family member cook 3. take tylenol for pain 4. decrease consumption of fat soluable vitamins then it went staight into which pt. is at risk for developing hepd, 1. living with a person with hep a 2. tylenol use 3. having hep b 4. visiting a unsanitary country then it went into "which is the correct room assingnment for the following pt." 1 hep c private room with contact isolation 2 bact. endocarditis private room with neg pressure 3 pt w/pud and a pt w/ c diff-semiprivate room 4 i think it was a pt. with hep a and a pt with ulerative collitis in semiprivate those hepatitis question threw me off. here are my rational: hep a needs someone else to cook!! hep c in the private room because he would most likely be treated with interferon, which lowers your wbc count, the contact isolation would be because of the mode of excretion of the interferon. (maybe i am wrong) and i wouldn't put a pt. with cdiff in the same room as a pud because of the potential for contamination from the c diff to the pud pt who already has a comprimised gi tract. and the hep d is associated with hepb ( i didn't know that til i got home), i put the one about the other country.(i don't know) i know that the wait is killing me i have already taken 2 nerve pills and i am working on the 3rd!if anyone could help or just lend some encouraging words it would be great.oh, and my last question was priority of care in a peds icu (dont know if i got it right though) oh, and would a pt with a av graft for dialysis be a contraindication for mri?thanks alot-tara pray that god grants me peace!!!!!!!!! :uhoh21: ______________
  17. sending prayers your way!!!! oh, and also a big (((((hug))))))! keep your head up, you are a great nurse and no computerized test can take that from you!!!-tara :)
  18. thanks, i hope so. those hepatitis question threw me off. here are my rational: hep a needs someone else to cook!!( i agree) hep c in the private room because he would most likely be treated with interferon, which lowers your wbc count, the contact isolation would be because of the mode of excretion of the interferon. (maybe i am wrong) and i wouldn't put a pt. with cdiff in the same room as a pud because of the potential for contamination from the c diff to the pud pt who already has a comprimised gi tract. and the hep d is associated with hepb ( i didn't know that til i got home), i also put the one about the other country.(i don't know) i know that the wait is killing me i have already taken 2 nerve pills and i am working on the 3rd! please send prayers for peace of mind my way and thanks, peaceful, for the encouragement!_tara

  20. WE got em and we love em!!!!They keep the patients occupied!!!!
  21. Thanks you guys! I understand now. My school isn't sending our info in either. Wich really is inconvenient because it could have been done a long time ago! Now I have to go to the school(45 min. drive),pay for the transcriopt, and do it all my self! :angryfire But, the sad thing is they didn't tell us that they were not gonna send it in, we had to call and ask where everything was because nobody heard from the SBN. Then they said "Oh, our bad, you are responsible for that. Didn't anybody tell you that?" I am so glad I am outta there!-Tara
  22. Okay I have a question about the ATT. How do you get it via Email? I know that some say to make sure pearson has your email address, but how do I give it to them? Do you place it on your application to the state? I went to pearson's web site and all I saw was "test registration", but I thought you had to already have your ATT to register. Please help!!!! I really need my ATT fast!-Tara :uhoh21:
