i just started with bayada last month. they are very good about scheduling. i just tell them the days and hours that i am available. i am only on one case right now but you can pick up more cases if you need more hours. they will try to find you a case that will fit your schedule. i work now with one client 2-3 days a week during the evening. they will train you in the trach/vent too and i hear that you get more than plenty hours doing that. charting is done at the clients home on paper. they also do stat pay which is more money but you have to always be on call. but they are very good with pay too, you can decline a case or ask for more money for the case if you feel its too low. if you arent comfortable in a case they dont give you a hard time, they will just look for a new case for you. i hope this helped a little.
  2. the quiz was no biggy. nothing you can really study. all basic nursing questions. most with scenarios and all mult. choice. i just did the intro to pedi course and the test was easy for that too. they seem very casual but professional at bayada. you should have nothing to worry about. they want you to work fo rthem so they want you to pass.
  3. i had an interview for a clinical research coordinator yesterday. they gave me a small test with some abbreviations, a billing question and simple questions like how would you answer the phone if you worked here. they also wanted me to provide a paragraph of why i would want to work here. i did not feel that the interview went very well at first, but they called me back to come for a second interview! does anyone know how much training you get with these positions? i am an lpn and only have experience in rehab nursing. i am a little nervous if i do get hired as i dont know if im gonna get thrown under the bus..
  4. i just had an interview at bayada today. the quiz wasnt that bad. about 55 questions, all mult choice. variety of general nursing questions. about 10 med questions. basic stuff like nursing process ie what should the nurse do if her diabetic pt feels dizzy and is sweating? if you can pass boards this is cake! i only got 2 wrong (and im a terrible test taker!) and they came and reviewed with me, its basic knowledge to see how much you know. other than that they were very friendly and it was a nice interview. good luck
  5. i was hired at healthsouth as a new grad; i have not been working there in almost 2 years and i tried to go back to get my job back and they said they werent hiring lpns at this time. i dont know if they are trying to phase them out of the facility or what but it was a great place to work for a new grad. plenty of orientation and lots of support from other nurses. the pay was a little lower than if you worked in ltc. i am in new jersey so i dont know about other states. but you should def give it a try, it was a good first experience for me.
  6. I am an LPN and recently saw an ad for clinical research coordinator and it asked for LPNs and RNs. I applied for this job and they sent me back an email saying that i have some of the attributes they are looking for. i was surprised to hear that because i didnt really expect that i would be qualified enough for this job. I am a little nervous about this interview as im not really sure what to expect. i have only worked in rehab nursing in the past so this is very new to me. any advise on what to expect would be great. does anyone know what the salary for an lpn in research would be about?
  7. thank you for the information, i will have to look into something like that
  8. I am an lpn and I would like to become a lactation consultant. I am confused about how to obtain hours because most places won't hire an lpn to work in ob. I understand you need a certain amount of hours then you can sit for the exam? I saw courses for certified breastfeeding instructor but what is the difference, where can you get a job as just a certified breasfeeding instructor? is there any certification classes or something where I can find a job in the ob area? I guess not working in an ob area now as an lpn is leaving me very unclear and I don't know which direction to take to further my career as an ob nurse or lactation consultant. I would even consider being a doula, would that count as hours and how do you get work as a doula? any words of advise will be appreciated...
  9. can LPN's get into telephone/triage nursing??
  10. im a new nurse. ive been working at a rehab hospital for 6 months now. i know i dont want to work in a nursing home or hospital and i dont really know what else my options are as an lpn. i really hate what im doing now and im feeling like i might hate being a nurse. any suggestions on what kind of job i should look for in the nursing field? i thought about home care or working in a dr. office. im also pregnant now and i feel awful so its making my job more stressful. i want to leave but i have a fear that no one will hire a pregnant nurse! i look for jobs all the time and nothing seems to appeal to me. i dont know what to do. help!!
  11. do you have to be an RN to be a sane nurse? or can you train as an lpn?
  12. Anyone have any info on an entrance test for Healthsouth? Do they test you there for LPN and what does it consist of?
  13. hi, i am a new lpn grad and will be starting at healthsouth as an lpn next week. i used to work there as a rehab tech so i have a heads up but i wanted to ask you what i should expect as an lpn. i feel that i should brush up on some patient care techniques. any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated! thanks
