I believe it is lower also because Fall 08 i ad 80 and wouldve gotten in but i was ineligible because i didnt apply to sac state before the deadline in november, then i had 82 pts in spring and didnt get it and this fall i had 85 and got in at position 59/60. I think the cutoff will be low 80's.

I believe you can get permits for downtown through the city so you can park on street without getting towed. You may have to talk with the city and show proof of clinical site. i'll e-mail Teri and see what the situation is. I am not sure if UCD is in the city limits, but i may just take Regional transit down and avoid the BS of find a parking space!

i don't check yahoo groups often enough, I'd prefer a facebook group. maybe ill make one for us facebookers. sorry not to counter your yahoo group but I know how unlikely ill go to it and itll be easier to stay updated with FB because I use it so often that and a lot of 2nd semester students are on there already and can offer help I am sure if they have time :)

Yay! I got your message on face book Dionne. I am pretty much done with my pre-entry checklist except for registration, books, polo shirts, and drug test! I can't believe orientation is THAT close to the start of the semester. We barely get any time to acqaint ourselves with other students!

Yeah I live here, the parking situation can be bad but since our classes are early enough we won't have problems. I would suggest a normal apartment near campus or along highway 50 or the major streets Watt, Fulton, or Howe. Also you can look into downtown if you like the feeling of city life there's a little community there. With our parking structures the parking structure 3 is the best structure because it has larger spaces and is within a reasonable distance from classrooms and close to the nursing department. I suggest bringing food because the food places can be packed and also expensive. Parking pass is like $160 for the semester and you will need it if you're driving! Hey I am in Sacramento and understand your frustrations. I am on the same level with applications as you. I have been applying to programs for 2.5 years and finally got into a program. However. I kept my options open and finally caved in and retook A&P 1 to better my grade. I suggest retaking the courses and applying for a BSN program. It is getting a lot harder so it would be best to up your science GPA and soon as possible! I have wanted to give up plenty of times especially when I had enough pts to get into CSUS and then made the mistake of applying to sac state too late and the nursing prog considered me ineligible because of one little mistake. scores were good, GPA was good and my points added up but i didn't follow the deadline to apply to the university in time. then I did everything right the next semester and the competition raised dramatically the next semester and i didnt get in because smarter people applied that semester! I was an alt for sac city and didnt know that if you are an alt you get placement for the next semester if you get your ducks in a row as if you were already selected (send TEAS and such to them). so i would have gotten in this spring... I don't know what is worse, not getting in because of not being selected randomly or not getting in because of a mistake here and there! I do know grades are key to getting into some programs (sierra, csus, sam merritt, possibly sutter even) If i had put my name on the wait list for yuba or napa or solano i would've been in a program by now so those wait list classes i totally suggest getting signed up with! Wherever you go you will be chancing your acceptance so i suggest either alternate routes while you apply (PA program, Phleb certification, Bio degree) and just sit it out. I have finished all of my Associates and bachelor's general ed, and all co-req's, and also some recommended classes while taking fun course at the same time while I wait it out. Grades are, sadly, a big thing if you are trying to be competitive, but if you wait it out with the random selected schools you will eventually get a spot! But I say don't give up just find ways around the urge to throw in the towel by taking other classes while waiting. Also while you wait retake courses (CSUS you can do A&P1 and A&P2 at the same time esp since you have already taken them). And if you get A's with those you can use those towards applying to CSUS! Calculate your grades and see what would happen if you did retake those two big curses and applied for the next semester of csus's BSN program, you may be surprised! If you havent already i suggest studying and taking a TEAS test to see where you fall and what you need to work on. if you give me your last 3 years of grades i could try to calculate your GPA and suggest where to start with building up your GPA. my email is [email protected]

i know how that goes being a massage therapist - I hate people who no-show but it is a lot harder when you wait for them instead of going to their house like I do! :oD

I work in a Spa as a massage therapist. You could make maybe 200 a weekend working 4-5 hours/day depending on where you live.

I've had to turn in three slackers in my day and I am always for them to get what they reap... I'm sure their grades are suffering elsewhere!

CPP - I know what you mean i have read many posts about people getting the denial letter from sierra and some got rejected even though they had a good GPA and such! Every time I read sierra's FAQ's the question on the bottom of the page does irk me because CSUS, ARC, SCC, and others will tell you why you didn't qualify. jess - That description ssounds like me. I did take my pre-reqs with Justin Moore who did his M/W A&P at sutter center for professionals. I wouldn't mind going to sutter but it is hard to compare these local schools except for ARC and SCC. I don't like some of the SCC teachers, I was an Alt for last fall and at the orientation they just seemed rude. Oh then I find out I should have been adm to the spring class for their nursing program since i was an alt for fall, but i didn't electronically send my TEAS scores to them, Doh! I guess it all happened for a reason.. I really do believe so. I almost got into a program three times but never made it just enough. 1DAY - I am thinking the end of May because they are super slow and have a really late application deadline (april 13th i believe or somewhere around there?) and so they will take 6 weeks. If we're being optimistic then maybe mid may but i am pretty sure the last two years it has been end of may... then again i always got denial letters! lol

Hey CPP, I got into sierra this time and it was my first try for that program. i took all of my classes at ARC except for micro over the summer at FLC. But just so you know this is my 4th semester applying and i finally spanned out and applied to sierra and sutter extended for the first time this fall. I don't know how they choose (sierra) but i do hear from people it isn't all just lottery based.

Accepted to Sierra College in Northern California! YAY FINALLY AFTER THREE YEARS! lol

oh its okay i just saw someone with that name. hehehe yes it would be quite hard for you to have a bf! For locations well it depends on what you want, I suggest downtown or Arden/Arcade area for school. Anything close to CSUS. Try Arden area because some pockets can be inexpensive for rent. I dont know if cash is an issue for rent but downtown can be pricey depending on where you live and I am unsure how the traffic is getting to school in the morning. Or you can try south of HWY 50 off 65th. Im 23 on the alt but theyre at 15 as of today. Im keeping my fingers crossed. Also one gal on here was like 18/19 and she says shes going to humboldt so i kindve hope she still does hehe then i have a better chance at getting in.... i hope...

Wait, are you 18/19? and you have an 82 too? im position 23 with an 82.... If i don't get in to CSUS i wont get any other chances this coming spring so i guess i can just hold out. I already made my schedule for my general ed courses for csus next semester if i don't get into the program....

ughhhh i am tempted to join it anyways to just watch you guys through - even if i don't get in. if i dont get in this semester im afraid i wont be able to get in in the fall. i just have a feeling.
