  1. Hey bluechick, I'm so sorry you haven't heard back from SM! I think it's strange that they haven't called you yet, because I know they received my decision to not attend SM (I received email confirmation a little over a week ago). Don't lose hope! I'm sure you'll be admitted soon. Good luck!!
  2. Hello, I just received an email from my admissions coordinator, and she informed me that the online pharmacology course that I'm currently taking at Santa Barbara City College may or may not be considered a corequisite to the program I'll be starting this fall, since the course is designed for Health Information Technology majors and not nursing majors. She said the nursing department will review the course, and then let me know whether or not the course is acceptable as a coreq. I'm SO upset with myself. I wish I had cleared everything up with my counselor before registering for the class. I already paid for the class and bought the book (I'm SO broke). I really don't want to take pharmacology concurrently with the first semester, so I hope the department accepts this course I'm already taking. But, I need a backup plan, so can anyone suggest a summer online pharmacology course that hasn't already started, and won't cost me an arm and leg? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!! :redbeathe :redbeathe :redbeathe
  3. This may be a stupid question, but how do I find the Yahoo! group? I'd love to join...
  4. I registered for section 2. It looks like sections 2 and 4 are identical.
  5. bluechick, I sent you a PM. :wink2: It looks like you'll be getting in! :D:D
  6. Yay! It's so nice to "know" someone who'll be there in the fall. Do you live in Sacramento, or are you moving there? I need to look into finding an apartment. Do you have any suggestions as to where I should look? Are you a Sac State student? What's the parking situation like? I just hope it's not as bad as San Jose State, LOL. Sorry for all the questions.
  7. Yes, all my prereqs were completed, with the exception of the bioethics course. Oh, wait, is that a corequisite? Hehe, I don't even know.
  8. My status changed to "Accepted", as well, but I most likely will not be attending MSMC. It looks like my spot will be given to someone on the wait list, so don't lose hope if you've been wait-listed. :) Congrats to everyone!!!
  9. By the way, you're taking pharmacology and pathophysio online at SBCC, right? I registered for pharm, but I wasn't able to register for patho, since all the classes are full. Do you mind sharing who your instructors are? And congrats, Mossback, for getting into their ASBSN program! I can't imagine how competitive that must've been!
  10. Hey bluechick112! I'm actually still deciding between Sac State and Samuel Merritt, though I'm leaning more towards Sac State! I got into Sac State, Samuel Merritt (traditional BSN), Chico State, and Lakeview College of Nursing (in Illinois). I should add that I was on Sac State and SM's waitlist, but I guess I lucked out and got into both! I'm still waiting to hear back from Samuel Merritt ABSN and Mount St. Mary's College ABSN. Thanks so much for the kind words. :redbeathe Good luck with everything!
  11. Wow, thanks so much for sharing that, eleCNA!! It's really encouraging to hear that Sac State's program and its faculty are top-notch. I'm hoping by the time I graduate from nursing school, the economy will be better, and nurses will be able to find a job more easily, but it's reassuring to know that Sac State grads are sought after, so to speak. I'm still deciding between Sac State and Samuel Merritt, though I have to say that this is a problem I'm glad to have, LOL. I didn't think I'd get into Sac State, as I was pretty high up in their alternate list (#21), but lo and behold, I found a congratulatory email in my mailbox. Right now, I'm just trying to weigh out the pros and cons of each school. I have also heard that Samuel Merritt has a pretty impressive program, but the cost of tuition is a pretty absurd to me. As of right now, I'm definitely, definitely leaning towards Sac State. Thanks again for the insight.
  12. Hi BrittanyLeigh, I'm not all that familiar with the Sacramento area or its schools, as I'm in San Jose. When your dad said that you'd be waiting years to get into a program, I believe he's talking about getting into one at a community college. Yes, the average wait time for a program at a CC is pretty long these days. If you were to get on Sac State's alternate list, there really wouldn't be much waiting. Just do really well in your prerequisites and TEAS, and try and get some of Sac State's optional criteria done (foreign language, work experience, etc.). Good luck!
  13. Thanks, Mossback, for the explanation. Are you in the program? Hey care_gon, I was only on Sac State's alternate list for about a week. The students on the alternate list who don't get into program don't get priority or anything for the next term. So if you applied for Fall 2009 semester, and you were placed on the alternate list and you didn't get into the program for that term, your alternate number wouldn't carry onto Spring 2010 term. You'd have to apply to the school again. I hope that makes sense. Sac State determines admissions based on points from nursing prerequisite GPA + last 30 units, TEAS score, and optional criteria. You can learn more about this on their website. As for advice, do really well on prereqs, get a high TEAS score, and put in some hours as a volunteer at a hospital. I wish you the best of luck!
  14. Is the accelerated program the same program as the regular BSN program? The regular BSN program is only two years long, as well. Are the two programs combined?
  15. Hey MBgirl! I applied for Fall 2009. Yes, I was on the alternate list. I was #21! I didn't think I'd get accepted, but I received a call from Teri Tallman some time last week, and she said my chances of getting in were looking pretty good! I couldn't believe it when I got the acceptance email. What's your alternate #? If you look on the nursing website, you'll see that the last alternate selected thus far is #24. I hope you get in! It would be cool to know someone else who plans on attending Sac State, since I don't know anyone, LOL. Actually, I haven't yet made up my mind 100% which school I'm going to choose, but I'm definitely leaning towards Sac State, as it's looking pretty darn attractive to me! I wish you the best of luck!
