  3. For us no matter if it is witnessed or not neuro checks are done Q15 X 4, then Q hour X 4 then Q 4 hour X4. and most of the nurses have 45+ residents to take care of.
  4. The same at my place, except the LPN's can't start IV's unless a RN is right there, and they cant do TPN for some reason otherwise we work right next to each other doing the same stuff
  5. my orientation was 3 weeks on days, and then I followed a nurse for a month on midnights. after the first couple days on nights, I took a side of a unit and she took the other. It was good because I had her to fall back on if I got stuck on something. charge nurse for me is Im in charge of the unit Im on, and the cna's that are with me. I have a supervisor that makes rounds and is there if we need. it all depends on how your facility works

  12. I just graduated and was told by many managers, recruiters that they systems are not hiring until you pass the nclex. I have applied for aprox. 100 jobs and have not gotten one call yet. I'm hoping as soon as I get my license it will be different
  13. I am a student in my OB clinicals, last week the nurse i was working with asked the patient if there was anything we could get her, she said no thanks. Her husband chimmed in with I could really use a beer right now( mind you its 7am) as he proceeded to drag out his video game system and then complained that we dont provide food or drinks for the dads anymore. HUH?????? I thought you were here because your wife was having a baby, not because you wanted to drink and play video games. he then proceeded to complain because her contractions were getting stronger and he needed to finish this level.....
