I graduated from CMC in 1997. The best clincial and educaional experience. I was very prepared for the working world. I am currently in Adelphi's RN-BSN program. It is much easier and laid back now that I have been working and know my stuff. GO to CMC. You will not regret it!!!!! Kim:yeah:

Once again, the thread was started to ask about programs. Everyone is entiled to their opinions based on THEIR experiences. It behoves a person looking into ANY nursing program to do their OWN research. There are VERY good nurses that come out of EVERY program. And everyone enters a particular porgram for VARIOUS reasons. I was not misinforming people- I hope that logical people look at these boards and relaize EVERYTHING is someones opinion. Sometimes BSN nurses feel that they know more than ADN nurses as well. All is irrevelant. In the end we all have the same degree RN!!!!! So please just respect that!!!!!

In NO way was I saying that you do not have emough clinicals. But if you look at BSN nurses and nurses that have went toa community colleg or diploma school you WILL see that the community colleges and diploma schools have much more clinical experience. In the BSN programs they start clinicals uin the jr year and have leadership classes etc. I went to a AAS program and by the 2nd week of classes we were in the nursing home. My school had a 97% pass rate with the NCLEX. Of course you want a school to help you pass the NCLEX but that is not the end all be all. Working- CLINICAL knowledge is what helps you!!!! FYI- I am in school now for my BSN and all the classes are communication, leardership nothing really nursing based. Kim

I am not sure. If you passed the NCLEX then can't you apply for any nursing position? Where in NY are you? Have you thought of an agency that would sponser you? I think White Glove does. Do you have nursing experience? Kim

Hi All, I think that each program has its plus and minus's. I graduated from an AAS program 10 years ago. I was more than prepared for clinical nursing. I had done everyhting in clinical. I have friends that went to a BSN program and graduated never giving an IM or SQ injection. To me that is poor. We had a 97% pass rate the first ime with the NCLEX. I am currently in school at Adelphi for my BSN- very easy this time around , no stree, papers to do, no tests in the "nursing " classes , alot of discussions. There are alot of people that have there associates. It have NEVER hurt me from getting a job. Actually I work at NY Pres. Experience counts for alot when you get to a certain level. I think that you should look into all schools. With the lack of faculty the amount of available seats are limited fro programs. It pays to keep an open mind and look into all programs that it is you really want to be a nurse. ' Feel free to email me with any questons/help needed. [email protected] Kim

No just bring your resume. They ask typically hiring questions. You meet with a recruiter who tells you what is available and then forwards you/resume to nurse manager to meet with. Let me know how it goes Kim

I work at NYP and they have an emplyment office on York Ave and 74th or 75th. You will see it. They hold open interviews for nurses. It's work a try. Kim

No I go in Garden City. With that GPA you should have no problem getting in.

I went to St.Vincents school of nursing in Fresh Meadows Queens. Great school, Great clinicals. I felt really confident when I started working. You should look into that school. Not a bad commute. I applied and was accepted at Beth Isreal. I went for a semester but I really didn't like it. I have a co-worker who went to NYU and she said that the clincals and the instructors were not good. But that is her oponion. I applied to Adelphi for the Fall semester for the BSN program. I am going to CW Post but the commute is alittle difficult for me since I work in Manhattan and live on the south shore. How is your GPA? Did you call Beth ISreal yet? I hope that everything works out for you but don't give up. Sometimes there are obstacles in the way but that makes you appreciate things when you get them.
