  1. OMG!!!! I got the job!!!!! The HR called me today and they offered me the job on L&D. I will be starting in 2 weeks. I'm excited and scared at the same time but very happy. I quess I made a good impression:smiley_aa Thank you all for great support:D:D
  2. Thanks for all the responses!!! I decided to just be myself and do not overanalyze it. I'll tell them why I want to work there, about myself and about my past work experiences. I dealt with a lot of people (nice and angry) and stressful situations, so that should be helpful. If they like me they like me if not maybe it wasn't meant to be. Thanks again for all your help!!!! I posted the same question on the NY site and did not get any answers, I'm happy I found this site.
  3. Hello I am going to have a second interview with peers on L&D unit to see if i fit in with the staff working there. I don't know what to expect? what questions might they ask me? should I have questions for them? I pretty much asked all the questions during my first interview with the manager. I know that there are 3 of us going after 1 position and I really want to get it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated :bowingpur I'm a new grad but a mature one with own children, no experiance in L&D except nursing school, and I really want this position, but I tend to be shy and quiet, and for sure will be intimidated by more then one person interviewing me.
  4. Hi Elizabells I see that your specialty is NICU, do you work as a NICU nurse? If you do what is a best way to get into that field? I always wanted to work there! but get mixed answers. Some teachers tell me to do med-surge first and others tell me to go right into NICU since it's so specialized. I also have other areas that I would not mind to work at like L&D and burn unit. Should I go for it or just take what is offered to me just to get my feet in the door? Any suggestions would help, thanks
  5. :yeah:Congratulation !!!!!!! :yeah:iriska_meller:yeah:on passing the boards:up: Was it as hard as everyone says? How long did you study for? How did you study? I always did good on tests in school, especially multiple choices so are the questions similar to what they prepare us for at school? I too decided to just concentrate on NCLEX review and will take the test as soon as i get my ATT. Keep us posted, I wanted to know if having the license will improve the chances of getting the job you want. Everyone I talk to says it will so good luck!!!! and thanks again for encouragement!
  6. Hello everyone:) I just graduated from BSN program and have hard time finding a job. (everyone says that nurses are in demand-it looks like were I live -upstate NY the supply exceeds the demand). The only two local hospitals that I applied to told me that they have received a lot of applications and not everyone will be called for interview. I decided to look into the city since there is a good train connection, only CPH called I told them that I'm interesting in L& D and was told that I will be put in that pile (whatever that means)-I think that I was too excided that finally someone called that I propably did not ask the right questions or give them the answer that they wanted. I worked very hard in school, my GPA is high, I have lots of awards, 2 months exp as a nursing assistant, and good work and personal references. Any idea why noone wants me????? Should I just wait until I pass the boards and start over???? Any advise would help, Thanks
