Hi Everyone, I took the exam in April and i cant believe that its almost a yr, I do three 12hrs shift in a med/surg floor and supervise in a nursing home prn, I feel so much comfortable now and i love my job, cant believe we had to go through all that. Thanks a lot to all nurses for all the support. Hope everyone is doing okay and good to hear from everyone after a yr, wishing everyone getting ready to take the exams good luck.

I am working in the USA now in a med/surg floor, I personally prefer the UK, in the usa the money is good and as a rn you have so many job opportunities and there is not a shortage of jobs but you work very hard and have to always cover your back, the pts are always right in the eyes of the managers or those above you, in the UK, its teamwork in most places, I worked as a rn in UK, nurses work hard, very hands on, sure most times we work understaffed but it also happens in USA but most senior charge nurses in the UK speak up for their staff and dont let pts always be right when they are wrong or rude to the staff for no reason at all. As I said earlier, its a matter of personal choice and every country does what works for them, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Thats all true, everywhere has a different system and I was responding from my point of view, every country does what works for them.

I am a nurse from england and moved over here a yr ago and work on a med/floor. It is very different here from England, In England the nurses are more hands on, not just paper work and leaving all the commode jobs or changing a patient for the tech to do, Its National Health System in UK, you dont need to get a health insurance, everyone is covered and above all in USA the pts has too much rights and the hospital tend to back the patients even tho they are wrong. 1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? Kaplan review course including qbank, saunders, lippicott, another review book, forgot the name and kaplan pharmacology flash card. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? I went to nursing school in england and we do not do board exams or multiple choice questions, so it was all new to me. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Took it thurs and got the result on saturday midday I paid for the results via person vue. 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I felt very relieved, mixed emotions, felt good during the exam, whenever i felt nervous i did breathing relaxation and kaplan's strategy helped a lot 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Second and the last, thank God, first attempt 265 questions, second and last 75 questions.

I have been reading this thread and I have to be blunt,you should get on with your work and leave her alone, spying on a co worker if it does not put a patient in harms way is not part of your job description

Sorry to hear that u did not make it, i failed on my my first try as well, take time to chill out, rest the brain, get up dust yourself and try again. You will surely make it and will be a RN. Goodluck and God bless.

Very sorry to hear this grad69, i know it is difficult at this time but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I failed the first time and did kaplan online,classroom course with question trainer and q bank the second time and passed with 75 questions, it really helped me. Remember God will make a way when it seem there is no way. Tons of hugs.

Hi I can understand how you feel, i failed on my first atempt and i am already a RN in the United Kingdom before i moved here with 2 yrs nursing experience, i had to work as a nurse tech even though i have a BSN cos we needed the money and could not work as RN here, it was so degrading but i had to keep my head up and carry on. After i failed the first time, i went through a spell of depression, where i did not really care what i looked like, stopped taking phone calls, thanks to my family for helping me pull through. I woke up one morning and told myself God will make a way, when it seem there is no way, i got all my books out, checked on review classes, i did the kaplan online and classroom courses, studied pharmacology religiously, listened to the online contents always so it got stuck on my brain. Took it on may 1, stopped at 75 questions, and i felt as if i was going through practise questions during the exam. You and everyone out there preparing for the exam can do it, get up dry your eyes and know that you have a goal and u will reach it.

Hiya, For the kaplan, i did not read the whole book but watched and listened to the online content review, the subjects i thought were my weak ones, they really helped and i also listened to the pharmaclogy content review over and over again, did it when i was cooking, doing housework and all that. On the last week before the exam, i listened and went through the review of questions online, that really helped cos they really explain how they came up with the answer. Hi everyone, Just thought i should come in and wish everyone preparing for the exam good luck. I did it on the first of may for the second time and passed with 75 questions, went to the kaplan review, did all the question trainers and q bank and it helped a lot. Dont forget to pay a lot of attention to infection control, pharmacology, diabetes, endocrine disorders and electrolyte imbalance. I know its a lot but had a lot of those questions along with SATA, delegation and priority questions. Wishing everyone all the best and if anyone needs help, will be ready to help. Hi everyone, I am a RN from the united kingdom, took the nclex once and failed, did it again on the 1 may and just found out that i passed!!!!!!!!!!! I am soo soo happy, words cannot describe it. Thanks to everyone for all their encouraging words and for those who are planning to take the exams, wishing you all the best of luck, you can do it with determination and prayers, pay a lot of attention to infection control and pharmacology.
