  1. @DavidFR. Thanks so much for your insightful post. My reasons for moving from the US to the UK is so much of why you moved to France. Enjoy the experience! At first I thought about the living in London because of the same things you mentioned-"fast, cosmopolitan, capital city." At 46 years old, I quickly realized that living out of the city, in my own space, making a decent living is a win, win. Then I can travel to the city when I want to. I visited Luton briefly in February and kinda like the area as it seems more affordable. What do you think about Luton? Also do you have suggestions for affordable cities a hour or so from London? I have received so much resistance about moving to a country that pays RN "way less" than the US, even to the point of people thinking that I am not "thinking clearly." My response is always, If not now, when? Your post was very uplifting. Thank you, Georgia
  2. I concur! Money should not be the driving force in every decision that we make. I look forward to learning nursing outside of the US as well, and experience different cultures. There has been valuable feedback from people who has been or going through this process of moving to the UK to work as nurses. I hope that we keep the thread focused on learning and uplifting each other. Where are you in your journey? I am currently preparing for my CBT which I hope to take in 3 weeks (tops). I am taking the Mental Health Exam and can hardly find study material in anything other than Adult Nursing.
  3. I joined this thread because I feel that there is much to learn from people who share the same goal-desire to move overseas and seeking some direction to complete this process. I have received valuable information to assist me in fulfilling my dream. And I thank the people who have taken the time out of their busy schedule to give encouraging, clear, and factual information on the process of moving overseas. I hope this thread does not get sidetracked with comments that do not relate to the main topic. I think we all make choices based on our individual wants and needs. For some, money is the driving force in most or every decision that they make. While others make decision with money as a secondary factor. Please let us continue to respect the choices that each other makes.
  4. Hello Nurses. I am so excited and motivated to hear about your experiences! I was invited to take my CBT and begin the application process. My experience is in postpartum and mental health, so I will be taking the CBT for mental health. I am a lactation counselor and about to sit my IBCLC exam (which is recognized in the UK). I am also in NP mental health school, but I will address that qualification with the NMC after CBT & OSCE. I hope to be a Perinatal mental health consultant in the UK at some point (depending on how long I stay there). 1) Apart from transcripts, did you have to provide documentation of clinical hours earned from your nursing school? 2) Has anyone taken the mental health CBT by itself, or did everyone complete the Adult nursing? 3) Is anyone working in mental health in the UK can give some ideas on "good" places to work? I started the process without an agency. If I have to use one, then I will, eventually. 4) Did anyone pay for mock exams for CBT or just use the "Royal" book? 5) What is the average for a flat mate, do you have to share bathroom? Has anyone rented like a studio that was reasonable or rented where they did not have to share bathroom? My goal is to save as much as I can, travel, and enjoy cultures. Thank you. Stay safe.
  5. I applied to USA a year ago and was turned down. I don't know anything about their program other than what I have read.
  6. At least USA assist students with a list of preceptors in different states. Some students have had to sit out a semester or two because of a lack of preceptors. I am planning to apply to USA fall 2015 or Spring 2016 for fall admission 2016 to pursue PMHNP DNP/Educator.
  7. LLISMAR-just saw your post. I am taking advanced assessment and another class this summer. Just say I am CRAZZZYYYYY!!!!!
  8. llisamar, do you have any recommendations for Advanced Assessment? I have to take it in the summer with another class:crying2: Thanks! You can in box me, if possible.
  9. Hang in there..you can transfer up to 12 credits (I think)
  10. Hope you have experience in Psych before applying at USA.
  11. Woks..Ok so I want to say I was lucky. No prior experience, .One observation I have in that each instructor seem to have different APA standards. Very reasonably priced.Hope that helps.
  12. I think another 1-1.5 month you should hear something.
  13. No proctored Exam, case studies-about 3-4. 3 exams, quizzes. You will work for the grade, especially pharm.Lol
  14. I am a PMHNP and currently looking for preceptors. My preceptor info must be submitted 1 month prior to clinicals. Ask the Mds you work with or search around for preceptors at other facilities.
  15. Ok Great!...So your references are in, letter of intent, transcript, and official application? Deadline is FEB 1st.
  16. I will. Are you trying to start in the fall? CSUDH is $768.00
  17. SpudBunny: I started the PMHNP program 2013-Fall. Graduation summer 2015. Lots of papers to write! I did advanced path' and pharm at CSUDH. I had to send the syllabi and grades to USI-waiting decision. Standard of program is high. We tend to do more independent work but the instructors are pretty awesome (at least mine are).
  18. Congratulations TashaLPN!!!!
  19. Currently a PMHNP student and learning a lot!!!!
  20. Advanced Patho, Pharmacology, N. Assessment- all MSN level.
  21. My program is 2 years full time-including summers. Based on my schedule I would do advanced nursing Ass & nursing research in the summer. That is a lot! I started advanced path in spring 2013, got accepted to NP school in the fall and did 3 classes including advanced pharmacology. Spring 2014, I will do advanced NA so that in the summer I will just have one class. Do what you can do now before class starts, especially if you will work full time.
  22. Work 3, 12s nights, GPA and work experience same as yours, I am older too, no interviews, PMHNP, classes are lots of work but doable.
  23. They will be able to answer better about the apps process. Graduate Studies WA 104 8600 University Blvd. Evansville, IN 47712 Phone: (812) 465-7015 Fax: (812) 464-1956
  24. Wow, I am sorry you had that experience. The same thing happened to me at a different school when I applied for my ADN 5 years ago. Two separate apps one to the school for general admission and the other to the program itself. I have realized that most schools are like that (2 sep apps). USI states that on their website though. The school of nursing accepts your apps and then add it to the pool of candidates after it has been evaluated and accepted. The school of nursing then makes their final decision about 3 months..
