  1. yeah i will pop in about 8 when kids are in bed
  2. almost my entire village is engulfed in water, i was lucky and live on a hill and am dry, but the rest of my town suffered terribly last monday when it was the wettest day of all time! i know many part of the Uk are in a similar situation, i was called into work to help out with the casualties and we arer put on RED ALERT and took patients from nearby flooded areas, i myself got stuck in my car with my 18 month old son adn was told to abbandon my car ( i had lots of shopping in the boot) and no pushchair) nightmare! anyone else have any stories relating to this? let me know x
  3. yeah it makes you wonder what's gonna happen next, who is up to what and who is plotting under our very noses. Its a crazy world we live in now, there is a constant threat from this kind of thing, getting search ed everywhere u go, all the CCTV watching us, I remember going to tenerfife last year and having to taste our babies food and milk before taking it on the plane, it was gross!
  4. i am an (E grade) bang 6 and my role at the trust i work is vastly different from the d grades, although on occassions the senior D grades have to step up in the absence of an E grade, but this is stated within their contract.
  5. i have to agree with what has been said above, nursing jobs here in the uk are getting harder to come by, they are making redundancies all over my NHS trust, many student nurses out of work in my area, or only getting temporary contracts, its crazy because we still use agency nurses all the time where i work its a nightmare and doesn't seen to make much financial sense to me (from where i am standing anyhow) the permit may give u an added advantage but u are not guaranteed to get work over here Good luck
  6. sorted it, just having a bit of trouble navigating the site
  7. cant make it tomorrow night guys work have just rung me, my entire village and surrounding areas are flooded so they are calling upon extra staff to work, be i am free next week x chat soon x
  8. yeah i think this is a good idea too im an english nurse and no one is ever in the chat room, another meeting should be set up, i have been working alot recently but have 2 weeks annual leave, it would be great to catch up x
  9. no one seems to use the chat facility
  10. anyone chatting these days?
  11. i am new to all nurses and eventually managed to sign into the chat room, but to say there are so many people registered on her there was no one on line chatting, is this normal?
  12. any one on here having to use the Bristol Stool chart at work? It may be just an english thing, but it's still freaky, i can see whay it is used but i keep laughing everytime i have to refer to it (which aint that often i know poo when i see it!) lol anyone have an opinion on this?
  13. this always makes me laugh, i dont think there is any direct evidence to suggest mobile phones cause interference with hosital equiptment, but we are constantly told to tell patients and families to turn them off, i don't think it has been challenged properly at the hospital i work, im not really sure how ur mum can ring u from her bedside phone, she should contact the patient line team at the hospital she is in and they will be able to help her, but it wont be cheap, it costs, 50p a minute to ring in from another UK phone number and 25p to ring out to anither uk number, as far as calling the US i really can't help u there, patient line phones make more work for me as a nurse as patients are always complaining about them, but it does stop relatives ring the nurses sation all the time blocking the phone lines up. let me know how u get on with that one!
  14. hi, i was never allowed to do venapuncture as a student nurse and i had to take it upon myself to do the course after qualifying, same goes for male catherterisation, i trained at sheffield uni, and have been qualified 4 years, i also did the diploma, and it never stopped me from progressing in my work place.
  15. just wondering how it works in the US, i have been talking to lots of american nurses on here and the thing that amazes me is the number of private rooms ur guys seem to have, in the hospital i work each ward has 36 beds, 4 f them being private rooms, the private rooms have one bed and a sink, thats it! i know it sounds pre historic! its one of the things i want to change about the NHS over here. Our private rooms are not always used well either, but because they are limited they are filled with patients with MRSA or the big one at the moment over here in england is C-diff! any views about this?
