I figured as much, she also told me I would have to pay to have my exams proctored.

Troy University
I too am curious why Troy's FNP program is horrible.. I start next week with Research Methodology and Foundations of Advanced Practice. I am attending part-time. I did have a friend ask me why I chose Troy when it is such a hard school that has proctored tests and you can't use books while taking tests ... she chose another school that I also spoke with. When they told me I could start within a week, I was me very skeptical. There are quite a few NPs in my area that graduated from Troy and are working with very well known practices. I guess I will see how it goes.

frontier nursing university prereq
I am in a similar situation. I have a statistics class that is outdated and I will have to repeat the class in order to apply to FNU. It is my understanding that the class will need to be completed before I can submit an application package. I have researched other schools that do not require a repeat of this class, but I do not have the same gut feeling about them as I do about FNU. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel this is the right fit for me. All of my e-mail correspondence with staff has been very friendly and informative.

Report from Recovery Room
We get a report in person, but some of the PACU nurses will give a call to see if we are ready for the patient and let us know about any special setups we will need for the patient.

Now for the waiting....
I PASSED!!! Thank goodness. It was kind of cool because my parents were in town for my daughter's high school graduation and they were able to celebrate with me. I called the BON three times so they could hear the computer voice say my name (LOL). I danced a little jig around my living room. Now I feel lost without any studying to do. It's kind of hard to relax now, but I will give it a shot!! Thanks for all the support on this board, it's great!!!

Moved NCLEX DAY UP! Please tell me I am not crazy
I am not in a quick results state, but I think the state BON has the license #s on the web site in about 48 hours, so that lets you know whether you have passed or not!!! I will be logged on Friday at 0859!!

Moved NCLEX DAY UP! Please tell me I am not crazy
You have the right attitude. I took it this morning and I am somewhat relieved..now just have to wait for the results. I did some deep breathing exercises before the exam in my cubicle...I'm sure I was a sight to behold (hehe)...did a little praying in the restroom as well. Get some rest this afternoon and this evening. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE..YOU CAN DO IT!!

Now for the waiting....
I took the NCLEX this morning and finished in a little over an hour with 75 questions. I had a lot of priority questions, no math whatsoever. I prayed for the screen to shut off at 75 and it did...but on the way home I'm thinking to myself that could be really good or really bad. I sure hope it is a good sign. Good luck to all of us taking the NCLEX this week.

Moved NCLEX DAY UP! Please tell me I am not crazy
I am glad to see I'm not the only one!!! I am scheduled to take the NCLEX this Wednesday (06/14) at 0900. I started wondering if I should wait two more weeks (going on vacation next week)...but I figured I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself. Then there is the issue with everyone telling me I will do fine. I wish I could see what they see!!! :uhoh3:

How many May graduates?
Pinning ceremony last weekend and graduation tomorrow:balloons: I am in the midst of two weeks of NCLEX reviews and then home study waiting for my ATT. Hope to take NCLEX before vacation in mid June and start working in July. Hoping to de-stress a little in between

how many (nursing students) are sick?
I'm just coming off of a pediatric rotation and have had a runny nose and accompanying symptoms for three weeks. My first day there, my little guy coughed right in my face...yikes. I knew right then, I was going to come down with something. Hope to get over it for good while I'm on spring break.

Maybe stationed in HI...have questions
Hi Sara610, I don't think you will have any problem finding a job with your experience. Check out The Queen's Medical Center website. Just know that Schofield Barracks is about 30-45 minutes away (on a good day) from the majority of the bigger hospitals, including Tripler. I lived at Schofield and worked at Tripler, but that was back in 1997 and I am sure traffic is probably a little more congested now. I think there are a couple of schools that you could consider for your BSN, namely UH-Manoa and Hawaii Pacific University, but these are also a ways from Schofield Barracks. Now as far as schools for the kids, Schofield has I believe two elementary schools on base and there is a middle school on Wheeler Air Field (across the street from Schofield), but these schools are run by the Oahu School District and are not DOD schools, so children from surrounding communities come on base to attend school as well. My two children were in kindergarten and fifth grade at the time. At that time, the school was what I would consider to be over-crowded and some the classes were in buildings in back of the school. If I had stayed a little longer there, I was considering private schools for my children. There were many families on base that were car pooling to Waialua and Mililani so that could be an option. Family wise, my kids loved it...they loved being able to play outside all year round, going to the beach...I loved it because I am a military brat and Hawaii has an international flair. Also there was the cost of living both my husband and I were receiving, definitely helped out financially. Hope this helps...

Anyone live in Newport News?
The Hampton Roads kind of merges all together, so Williamsburg, Yorktown, Newport News and Hampton are all within 10-30 minutes of each other. I worked at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, am currently attending nursing school in Hampton, and live in Yorktown, and usually get to anywhere I want to go within 20 minutes. The school system in York County is considered one of the best in the area, which is where my children currently attend. Some of the apartments and houses are on the pricey side. We rented an apartment a year ago in Yorktown for around $1200/month, but we also had to take what we could get in a 3BDR because we arrived not too long after Hurricane Isabel. There are some others that are more reasonably priced. As far as crime goes, I'd say Newport News is average, and that it has areas that are seedier than others, but overall the area is fairly pleasant. As far as Yorktown, not much in the way of crime goes on and it is very family oriented. Good Luck!
