hello!! i am a portuguese nurse working in portugal. at the moment i am applying to ontario-canada but if u need something related to nursing in Portugal just ask. where do u plan to work? "ordem dos enfermeiros" will need your certificates and after you pay your fees you can work. If you have a uk citizenship you can work here with no problem. Be aware that there is a lot of unemployment in the nursing field and that the wages are very low compared to Uk for example. Expect to earn per month around 1200 euros working 35 h/week on rotating shifts.

Let me tell u my own experience. I'm an IEN and i only had 1 month and a half to study before the exam. I didn't bought any nursing books , only the prep-guide and download CNA Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (2002) and the compendium of Standards. After that I took the online exam. I went to Canadian Nurses Association web-site and took note of the 194 competencies. For each competency I took notes from different sources: web, books, personal experience... and I made 4 books, each one corresponding a group of competencies. Professional practice Nurse person relationship Nurse-practice: health and wellness Nurse practice: alterations in health For me the most important thing is to look to the competencies. Each question on the CRNE is linked to one of these competencies. Don't forget that! Study each competency one by one. That's how I did and I passed my first attempt and English its not my mother tongue. Another thing : critical thinking!!!!! This is very important. It is important to think and analyse situations!

hi! yes i heard and they are really relevant. USA(american nurses association)does belong to this federation as well as other 127 countries. It is not an internet organization.The International Council of Nurses was founded in 1899 as a federation of national nurses associations. " ICN is the world’s first and widest reaching international organisation for health professionals. " This is one of their focus:the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®). This is already in use and provides a common language that allows nurses to compare nursing data in different countries. For example, in my team there is a member that develops the nursing plans according to this language and has regular meetings with other members in order to be aware of what has been done. Also when u do your charts u are supposed to use this language. this means that everybody (your team members and also the nurses in those 128 countries) understands what has been wrote. For example, i can not find a definition in my country for what you call a piggyback. this is not a question of translation we just don't have a specific term for that. with icnp this can not happen. hi!:nuke: i am a portuguese nurse who has always worked in portugal, but knows how important it is to go abroad and get new experiences. i started my application to CNO a long time ago. i have done this very slowly because i was taking a health psychology degree (4 years) at the same time and i was thinking about going to canada only after i had finished the degree. i graduated from nursing school in 2002 and from psychology faculty last year. i had already passed crne and ielts. i have read a lot from the forums:bugeyes:, Acts,CIC,i went to the canadian embassy in portugal ( they told me to contact the embassy in paris), but i still have some doubts about want to do now. So , here are my questions: 1- When CNO writes about "Requirement 6: Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, you are required to provide a copy of your current Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency documents or authorization under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) to work as a nurse in Canada". So to fulfill this requirement they ask you to provide: A) a photocopy of your Canadian Birth Certificate or B) Landed Immigrant Papers/Permanent Residence Card or C) Certificate of Citizenship or D) work permit that provides authorization to practise nursing in Ontario or E) a valid Canadian passport. A,C and E is not applicable to me. A permanent residency will take to long. a work permit is what i am looking for, because it will take less time,but from what i have read in cic this not give you the right to be a permanent resident or even a canadian citizen and this is the requirement that they ask for. Am i misunderstanding something? Is a work permit the document necessary when you apply under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada). Is this that applies to me ? 2- when applying to a job i have to pay particular attention to the contract? i mean, since a work permit is usually one year this means i can only apply for a temporary job and not a permanent job. what does it means a temporary or permanent job in ontario.? 3- will i be able to study(not at a degree level), its more like those specific courses like health assessment for example? i know , i know it was a long thread:typing i appreciate any advice that someone can give me, because i am doing this process on my one.:wink2:

i haven't received my crne exam results. i did it in ontario last october and i'm still waiting here in europe, portugal...for the results... did it got lost on the mail?? i read here that some others had already received the results in ontario, so i'm just wondering if it got :olost.

I'll be doing it in Ontario (still don't know if it's going to be in london city-1ºchoise or toronto city-2ºchoise).I'll be advised 3 weeks before. did you get the crne prep guide and the blueprint?How are you studying?

I always give Haldol IV, as prescribed by the MD. In our vials is written IV or IM (the same to 2mg or 5mg). Never used it as IM. never seen it prescribed as IM. Never had problems. Hi! First time here.
