Chi Eta Phi?
I am a very proud member of Chi Eta Phi, Sorority, Inc. and because I am honored and humbled to be a part of not only a historical organization, but one that has strengthened not only my practice, but enriched all aspects of my life, I will not respond to any type of negativity in any form what so ever. Lilmamita, I will be glad to tell you about my sorority, the numerous activities we are involved in, the fellowship of sisterhood and how to ignore disrespectful comments and suggestions that bring forums down. Please PM me for a great discussion. Take care, God Bless and Peace.

AA hair care racist?
I wear my hair without chemicals. It's been about 3 years and I have learned to embrace the compliments and pray for the people that stare. I kinda feel empowered to know that I am honoring my ancestry by wearing my hair the way God intended for us to. Let me know what you think.

AA hair care racist?
IMO, I wouldn't have taken offense, she was probably taking out on you and meant no harm. I am AA and hair is a touchy subject, so just blow it off and continue giving excellent nursing care. Hope that helps.

African American Care
Regardless of being politically correct, we are a melting pot in this day and age. I am of African descent, which is why I prefer to be called African-American, not black. Black is a color and I am not a color, but a human being. African Americans embrace this identifier, because historically we have been stripped of the individuality of our culture. Many of my family members look caucasian, asian, native american and every other nationality, but we know where our roots started. Just give competent nursing care and what ever you do will be appropriate.

RN and MPH - where do I fit in?
I am not sure what your rationale is. Are you saying that someone with my qualifications would be offered a part time, hourly, non negotiable position?

RN and MPH - where do I fit in?
Just wanted some guidance on a pondering question........ I am an LPN, completing my RN in Jan. 2006, I also have a BS in Health Science/Community Health and a Masters in Public Health. I currently work with seniors in a nonprofit, which I like. But, I need to live and I don't think my current job will make me a "substantial" increase in salary when I finish my RN. I only want to clinically nurse on the weekends - preferable OB, or MedSurg; but what kind of salary do you think I should be offered? I have 5 years exp. as an MPH and 8 years as an LPN. I really want to work more in research, but those jobs have a very low turnover. Thanks in advance for your response.
