  1. Are there any DON's out there who wouldn't mind answering a few interview questions for an assignment? I would really appreciate it. You can also personal message me if you like. Thanks. 1) What is your title? 2) What is the scope of your responsibilities? 3) Explain how your responsibilities are (or are not) within your job description. 4) To whom do you report? 5) To whom are you accountable? 6) How long have you been in this position? 7) What (and where) was your previous position? 8) What leadership skills did you bring to this job? 9) What leadership skills did you acquire on this job? 10) How has this position helped your growth as a nurse leader? 11) What do you like best about your leadership role? 12) What do you like least about your leadership role? 13) How much satisfaction with your leadership role do you experience? 14) What one piece of advice would you give to an aspiring nurse leader?
  2. I agree. New grads are having the hardest time finding jobs in nyc. Some hospitals are hiring but they are looking for "experienced" nurses! It may also help if you get a referal from someone who works at that hospital otherwise expect to be searching for a while (months). Good luck!
  3. Hi I recently graduated from Hunter's school of nursing. The program is very competitive. My class had 100 students. They look at your G.PA and your score on the NLN preentrance exam. Although I think I started to hear rumors about an interview but I doubt that will happen. The average GPA for my class was probably a 3.5. So my advice is to keep your GPA up and prepare well for the NLN and you will get in. Also the generic program is only for students without a RN license and you have to attend hunter for at least 1 semester before applying to the nursing school. If you have a license you have to apply to the RN-BSN program. Good luck guys!! (P.S. It is not as easy to find jobs as they make you think. So keep your making connections throughout nursing school and doing an summer externship helps, hopefully things will change by the time you graduate!!
  4. Hi jolie, I was curious about what kind of identifcation you showed when you went to take your nclex; was it in your maiden name or your changed name? I am in a similiar situation you were in. I will be taking the nclex soon however i also just got married and had my name changed. All the paper work that I sent in, including the one from my school, is in my maiden name. I intend to change it afterward to prevent confusion as you did. I also know that they require the name on your identification to match the information that they have on file and if you changed your name to bring in a legal document (i.e marriage license). Is this what you did or did you show identification from your maiden name?
  5. I'm a nursing student and I'm currrently taking an ethics class and one of our assignments is to interview a healthcare worker or human services worker (i.e teacher) who faced an ethical dilema or moral conflict. Does anyone have any stories that they are willing to share with me? Your task would include describing the situation, what actions were taken or were not taken to resolve the conflict and why; describe the outcome of the situation and what are some your personal reflections of what happened (i.e what would you do differently and why). Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)
