  1. LAURA GASPARIS VONFROLIO is all you need to know. DVD's were expensive but WELL worth it. Plus, you are supporting nurses, not Kaplan or some other corp when you buy her DVD's.
  2. My hubby went to become a CRNA after getting an associates from Anoka Ramsey. I got thru my program with NO debt. I got a job before I even graduated 3 years ago. Don't mess around with LPN at all. No one hires them. Get your BSN after you have a job and they will pay for your schooling. Plus pay difference is virtually nothing. St. Kate's has one of the lowest passing rates in the state on the NCLEX and they are one of the most expensive. Good luck!
  3. DO NOT leave the hospital if you want to get into L&D. They do not want someone who can do an interview and basic clinic work. ICU is def your best bet. Good luck!
  4. It is smart of you to do your ADN first because the pay difference is barely anything (like $1/hour) I know my work at Children's will pay around $1500 a year for education so you can be making $30/hour while you go back and get you BSN paid for. Augsburg has a nice program as well as Metro state. Jobs can be sort of hard to come by right now in the twin cities but that is always in flux. Best of luck it is a GREAT city (if you don't mind the horrible weather 8 months of the year :-) Lots of culture and Nurses are very well respected (in my experience)
  5. Hi everyone, My preliminary results show that I failed boards! I am crushed. I don't get it, I scored 426 on the see with next to no studying, then I studied valley for 2 to 2.5 weeks before boards didnt get though all of it either, got to question 170, (so I know I was right on the border) and failed. Anyone else fail boards? If you did, what did you do to change how/what you were studying? How soon did you retake the exam? To those who passed... Did you memorize EVERYTHING in the sweat book? I find that next to impossible to do. Also, should I focus more on sweat book or memory master? Most people have said sweat book, but Valley says memory master is more important. How many times did people go through the sweat book before the test? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!
  6. In at MSA, class of 2010!

  19. Just read all 47 pages! wow! lot's of info there. Taking the exam on Monday!!! I feel pretty confident about the "pearls" just need to polish up and watch Laura's videos one or two more times and do as many Dennison q's as possible. To those of you that have Laura's green review book, was it a little bit of overkill? It seems that she goes into too much detail on everything but pulm, neuro and cardio.

  21. How important is CCRN for getting into school... I have heard of many getting in without it. I also had someone tell me that he thought that the CCRN was what pushed him over the edge to get accepted.
  22. so all these people on the waiting list automatically get in the following year ahead of the others applying for that year?
  23. So for those who got in after one year experience, can you tell me your background... GPA, school, age, Unit worked on... what was it you thought that got you the interview. CCRN? Volunteering. How did your nurse managers handle it when you asked them for a reference letter? Did they know when hiring you that 4-5m later you would be applying?
  24. Great post, very helpful, I am in that 2nd bucket
  25. I am very interested in becoming a CRNA and am currently a nurse employed ay the U of M medical center in the ICU. Would anyone be willing to allow me to shadow them in Minnesota? Please PM me if you are willing. Thank you
