Hi Commuter, I am seriously considering the online ENMU MSN program. I was wondering if they require the GRE, and if you have to arrange a local clinical practicum to fulfill the degree requirements. Since I can't swing more than six credits a semester anyway, I am super excited about the very reasonable tuition. Thanks!

That is a NJ thing. Might be easier (won't say quicker though) to initially license in your home state and then endorse over later. Be forewarned:I had to laugh when you mentioned a "significant delay".I put in all the paperwork in September for endorsement,was fingerprinted at their location and I am still waiting. I spoke to somebody today who said everything was in order and they would issue my lic # by the end of the day. We'll see.

www.nationalcordbloodprogram.org This is a free public national cord blood bank. It is run by the New York Blood Center. Unfortunately, only six hospitals or so participate in the program, and they are all in NY except for one in VA and one in OH I believe.

Well I finally got a human on the phone yesterday...now they're telling me that I didn't send them enough money....that the fee went up last spring or summer or something, and the check that I sent in September was short $55. She told me I must have had an old form. The one I downloaded from their website a week before I sent it.In September.And why didn't anybody ever notify me? She thought I knew(?):trout: This would be funny if I wasn't so aggravated. So I asked, "After you get this $55, will it be a few more months?" We'll see!!!!! I guess their "system" is, just don't do anything with these applications until they call, and when they call, just tell them one issue at a time. If there's two issues, save the second issue for the next time they call....... I will never ever again complain about NY after this.

You didn't mention your GPA....is it competitive(3.5ish)? It's supply and demand, and there are tons of extremely qualified people competing for a limited number of spots in these programs. If you are serious about becoming a nurse, you need to complete all the varying pre-reqs for all the different schools and apply elsewhere. I did what Chuck did...I completed an LPN program and then went on from there to become an RN.The LPN programs are usually a bit less competitive(entry-wise), and from there you can decide what your next move will be. Contrary to popular opinion, LPN training is intense and clinically oriented from the first month of the program. I give all credit for my clinical competence to my LPN program.....I can still recall my first med-surg job(as an LPN) and how I knew answers to my nurse manager's question drills that the BSN's did not. You said something about applying over and over and don't they see that you're determined...ummmmmm...NO. Every time you apply is independent of every other time that you've applied.(did you take the statistics pre-req yet?) Good luck to you.

Does anybody know why they d/c'd the AMP program? That was my goal as well. Anybody know of any comparable accelerated programs for ASNs?

I am a New York State licensed RN. I submitted all required paperwork and fees to NJ BON back in September. They cashed my check immediately, but never contacted me after that. I tried on numerous occasions to call to see what was going on, but on the rare occasions that I did actually get a human, they transferred me to voicemail, which I took as the equivalent of hanging up on me, as none of those messages were ever returned. SO finally one time they did connect me to a helpful human who told me that they were waiting on my fingerprints, as they sent me the fingerprinting forms "months ago" (no they totally did not) so he re-sent them. I did the fingerprinting 2 or 3 weeks ago, and still nothing. Is my experience typical? Do you have SOOOO many nurses in NJ that the board really can't be bothered to have just one more? Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me or commiserate. Sorry for the rant!
