At a Crossroads and Confused
I say take the level 3 nicu position and get a PRN adult or peds position somewhere else. After you have some time at both positions, then I believe you can make an informed decision. The actual hands on experience can give you more insight. Just my 2 cents🤔

Assisted living turned nightmare
This is illegal to have you completing company duties off of the clock. That is a labor law issue. Secondly it is also illegal for you to work full-time without taking a lunchbreak. My advice to you is to seek employment opportunities elsewhere, but follow up with legal counsel for the labor law issues. Because your nursing license and piece of mind are priceless.

Congratulations to all. I also was accepted into the PMHNP program here as well as UMKC, so I have to make a decision soon.

Family Member Watching Pro-terror/ Anti-America/ Anti-Semitic video
So when a person of color or a women is taking care of a sexist or racists patient/family, they can decline? As an adult, you will encounter people that have different points of views from yours; however your job and responsibility is still to provide care for such individuals/families. If we can refuse treatment because of sex, race or religion; many people would not receive health care with this way of thinking 🤔

Why preceptors don't precept
I want to be as proactive as possible with my learning experience, which reference books would you recommend for advance pathophysiology, advance pharmacology and health assessments? I am aware that some medical books maybe my option. I want to be as prepared as possible for clinicals and during my future practice. Any pearls of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Reference Books Recommendations
Hello All (Current NPs and or Students), I want to get started early with a solid foundation as an APRN. Although I haven't started a program as of yet, which reference books would you recommend for advance pathophysiology, advance pharmacology and health assessments? I am aware that some medical books maybe my option. I want to be as prepared as possible for clinicals and during my future practice. My current goal is the MSN with PMHNP track. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

B&M vs Online
Hello, If you don't mind sharing, where do you go and which state do you live in? Thanks in advance.

No Overtime
I believe that it is a hippa violation to access any patient's chart and information if you do not have a working relationship to that patient and not on the clock. You are not suppose to be in any of their medical records/information. If you are not still on company's time doing official business, do not violate hippa. Plus if worse case scenario you get hurt while off the clock, you are on your own. I say start looking for a new job.

How many NP programs did you apply to?
Thanks for the info StephPghRN, BSN. Is there truly a maximum or minimum number of schools that a person should apply for? I live in Maryland and I plan on applying this summer for MSN programs with the mental health track. I have an 3.61 undergrad GPA, with great references, and what I believe is a great personal statement. My 1st school of choice is UMKC they are affordable (all online students pay in state rates plus has a great repretation) with a few campus visits. 2nd & 3rd choices are University of VA & Shenandoah Uni, they have a great repretations and finds all preceptors for students but are traditional B&M institutions. Last is EKU, has an ok repretation, is 100% online, is affordable but doesn't help with preceptors at all. I have coworkers that attend Walden, which is a new for profit school (around less that 45 yrs) and never denies applicants, and doesn't help with preceptors. All of my schools of interest also have payment plans for students, so I can use financial aid, tuition assistance from work, and even scholarships; therefore I will not have to take any loans. Again thanks for the information everyone.

New Grad, Can't Get Hired?
I would try all of the above. This way they'll have a face to attach to the name and resume. Make sure that you mention that you also applied for the desired position on the company's website. Good luck.

New Grad, Can't Get Hired?
University of Maryland John Hopkins Holy Cross Hospital Silver Spring Washington Adventist Medstar Georgetown Inova Fairfax, Va As far as pay, the DC hospitals & Holy Cross Hospital pay more for new grads. If you are an ADN, you'll have to sign a contract that you'll get your BSN by a certain timeframe. I hope that this helps. Good luck.

New Grad, Can't Get Hired?
Hello, If you are willing to move to the DC, Maryland, or Virginia area, there are plenty of jobs for new grads. Some hospitals in this area are even hiring new ADN grads in several specialities. Just a thought. Good luck and don't give up.

Seeking online or hybrid PMHNP Program
Hello, I'll send you a pm once I get the minimum posts required. Sure we can definitely connect. I'm still undecided, but I want a hybrid university with a decent repretation.

MSN-PMHNP Program Recommendations?
Hi, Did you finally decide on a problem yet? If so, where are you going and how is the curriculum? I'm in the process of applying and living in Maryland has limited my choices of online programs that don't cost an arm and leg that also has a decent representation. Thanks in advance.

Seeking online or hybrid PMHNP Program
Because Maryland BON does not have agreements or partnerships in place with several online universities. It is my understanding that universities have to have a certain number of faculty license in the area plus pay a fee to participate in the multiple state online learning process. Bottom line, It's all about the $$$.
