Solon says appeal to US on nursing visas a BAD idea??
She (Garin) doesn't know what she's talking about. Post grad hospital experience is really important just like what Suzanne is saying but 3 yrs is way too much. And aside fr that training should start from the nursing school. Puting up a school of nursing here in the Philippines is quite becoming a good business and a sure income-generating business but what so upsetting is that the quality of nursing graduates are being compromise. I'm working here in the Philippines as a charge nurse in on of the most well-known hospitals here and i really notice how "slow" are those newly grad nurses are. So, instead of that "mandatory 3years local servise" that she's up to why not just make a law (a strict one) to upgrade the standard of nursing here. By the way, does anybody knows what are the requirements in putting up a Nursing School? just askin.... or is there?

Another attempt to bring NCLEX to Manila
NCLEX here in Manila? definitely good news/idea for all the nurses out here. With the issues we had last year (June '06), i doubt it! It is much better to spend your hard-earned money to take up your NCLEX somewhere than to have it here and to have it retake if the same thing happens once again. That is too much to handle not just by the nurses but most of all their parents. The review centers who were involved are still holding review classes and they became more popular than ever. OMG! i don't know what's goin on! Really! when money talks, people listen.

Can you recomend me the best book or review material
Talking of experience, u really cant tell which really is the best. I used NSNA 5th edition, saunders for Q&A. I took the nclex last june 28, 06 in Saipan. I nailed it fter 75Q. The questions were very short not like the Saunders' which are quite long. I got 3Q in pharma, I encountered the drug Amiloride which i thought is an OHA (rhymes with Gliburide, right?) But fter reading the choices i knew then that it's a diuretic. You just have to read and understand the Q and choose the best answer. Read it twice. Dont panic. Pray a lot. Study hard. God bless. :smiletea:

saipan examiners (nclex)
Re: saipan examiners I really dont know how much it will cost u coz all my expenses were shouldered by my agency and all dat i brought is pocket money. I stayed in Gold beach Hotel. Good accommodation i can say.... big rooms, hotel attendants are all Pinoys. There's a computer in the lobby which is free of use to all nurses. Breakfast is included in the package. If ur thinking of ur lunch, well, all u have to do is ask them coz they have a contact there who delivers food for lunch and dinner (Filipina). Last year it cost me around 4-5$/meal. There's also Jollibee near the church though its a lil far but f ur willing to walk then that will not b a problem. Climate? it is so hot in there! as in soooo hot! U can bring cookies, biscuits, juice. I hope this will help u. If u have some more question just let me know.

I am freaking out! Please advise...
Re: i am freakin out! pls advise.... U know what? I am an RN here in the Philippines and also a USRN, i passed the NCLEX last June 28, '06. I took the exam in Saipan and i passed it. I believe ur school has nothing to do if you are going to pass it or not it will all depends on you. And mind you girl, i graduated last 1992! yes! u read it right! 1992! U just have to study hard, i mean very very hard. I am a single mom to a 10yr old boy at the same time working as an RN here in the philippines and at the same time reviewing. By the way, i'm only waiting for my green card interview maybe a couple of months more and then i'l be flying to NJ to start my new career. So dont worry to much of your school's passing rate. God bless you.
