  1. We do a version of self schedling we fill out what we want and the gal whos does the official schedule makes what she can work .... it works well for us and I hardly ever have that annoying one on one off unless I do it to myself. I work 12h noc's and when the day shift did our schedule it was baaaaddd they don't get that that first day off is almost like not having a day off at all.
  2. I have been working with Access on a posssible first time travel assignment they seem to be big in the CA area (which is where I am from) the paywas reasonable about $10 more an hour than what I make now as a staff nurse plus housing and since gas is up a gas allowance. They fully checked out my ref. and credentials.
  3. KeeKee24 your right to an extent... I am from the Fresno area it is however not a farm town anymore I do not know how long it has been since you have been in the area but it is booming now the boring part is where I agree with you and 38.50 seemd to be very little I have heard from some of our travelers that the pay is much higher more like 50+ an hour at least for OB
  4. We just changed a couple of years ago from barny purple to wear what you want with "mostly" white shoes and NO clogs

Hanging Mag on a Sol-u-set tube is something new to us but seems to make sense.. decreases the risk of bolus if the pump malfunctions and if we do transfer it makes the receiving nurse more comfortable knowing that all she/he could give at onetime is usually not enough to do damage.
  7. If it helps do what I did if it is offered.. I was a student nurse extern my last year if school on L&D I did all of the nursing duties under the supervision of a preceptor (with acception of vag exams) it made me more prepared to handle the stresses of being a "new nurse" the down side to it... it took me over a year to shake the stigma of being the "extern"

Maybe one of you have had the same problem as we are having: The ER calls in the middle of the night and says we are sending a mother up who is going to deliver any second, they usually come up with an aid who has no gloves no BOA pack and is running with the PT down the hall as the PT is pushing ...isn't this an EMTALA violation? and any ideas on how to fix this problem ... we have gone to the head of nursing and have received very little support ... we are four floors up and all the way on the other side of a medium sized hospital with elevators that often just stop because they feel like it, we are just biding our time until we have a bad outcome, we have even offered to come to the ER to help if they are going to deliver but they just keep sending them (last night we had a thick mec baby with slight shoulder distocia deliver 3 min after arriving to the floor)... any suggestions would be appreciated
  9. I guess it depends on where you are in CA it is 1:2 active labor without having to do Labor checks
  10. They post results after midnight I got mine at 3 am this was 2 years ago and I hear that they have updated a bit but I would check after midnight it only took 2 days for mine but our school was very quick about sending transcripts. GOOD LUCK!
