  1. I think I understand your frustration. I am a person who needs a simple thank you every so often also. Thankfully though I am doing a peds private duty with a great family who thanks me often. Its not that I dont already do a good job but it helps me get through every day and want to do an even better job knowing that they do appreciate what I do there. I have a question for the original poster or whoever else wants to answer. I am a new nurse and started this peds job a couple of months ago. Like I said I work with a great family and child every day. I dont want to work hospital or nursing home where I will be overwhelmed and behind all day on my work. I enjoy a job to be a little more laid back. The problem is that I recently started to get bored. Ive only been on the job for 2 months and dont know if it will get better. Have I gotton myself into a job thats not for me or should I give it time, I dont want to go hospital , I hated it there during my clinicals in school. Im starting to wonder if I should have even went to nursing school. If I dont like hospital, nursing home, and now am getting bored with peds , what else is left? This has been the best job I have ever had. I simply am getting bored. Any suggestion?
  2. Lana- Completely understand on not wanting to wait. I hope you dont mind me asking, but where are you going to go to RN school at? I have heard Platt is over $20,000. And I'm really not interested in taking several years of basics at TCC, one year sounds so appealing. If your going to Platt do you have any info.? Thank you in advance.
  3. Have you ever thought about a different area of nursing? Like home health or something. I hope things get better for ya!
  4. It took less than a week to get my OSBI check back. Good luck!
  5. I did private duty. I was able to work part time and go to school full time. My pt. allowed to me study all the time. Plus private duty pays more than hospital or nursing home.
  6. I find this thread interesting. I had never heard of this attiude before and Ive been a cna for 5 yrs and a cma during a period of that time. I just recently received my LPN. I had not hear of this attitude till while I was in school and a family member of a pt., of all people, had said to me several times "So will you be planning to go to school to be REAL nurse after you get your LPN" . I said to her "I WILL be a REAL nurse!" This got under my skin because I had never come across this and didn't realize that people felt this way. I don't know yet if I will go on to RN school or not , school has taken a lot out of my life and my childrens, we will see. But if I do go on its not going to be because I feel people are looking down on me, I don't care if they are. Im proud to be a LPN and it took A LOT of hard work to become one.
  7. Please be careful about looking at lpn books before you get into school. I had a friend who went to nursing school before me and gave me her book before I started and when I looked though them I becamed really stressed, I didnt understand a lot of it and wondered if I could handle it. When you go to school they teach and it all comes together. Good luck to you and try to take it one day at a time!
  8. Ok I have noticed that several people in this thread say it is not normal to have to do dig stim. I am a new grad looking into a part time private care position. I was informed the pt.(who is a quad) needed to have this done daily. Of course they said I would be trained. Does anyone have any experience with dig stim and know if this is normal to do on a daily routine? I am wondering what I am getting myself into.
  9. I onced worked in a LTC facility as a CNA and CMA where the nurse/pt ration was 1/60 now that is too much! They did have a treatment nurse and a CMA to pass meds and do treatments but still you know there is always something going on with the patients to keep you tied up. The nurse was always running and staying late to finish up. I love LTC and would jump right back in as a nurse if I could find one with a 1/25 ratio, sounds like heaven , that is if your not passing meds and doing treatments.
  10. Yes I just found out today that I passed. The questions on the ATI test and saunders were so easy compared to the nclex. I never anticipated the nclex being so hard. The only thing I can think of is that I heard that when you get one question right it gives you a more difficult one and if you get it wrong it gives an easier one and I just kept getting them right so they got more and more difficult. I dont know how true that is. My friend took the nclex on the same day I did and she felt the same way - that no matter how much we would have studied from saunders or ati it wouldnt have helped the way that the questions were sat up. I dont want to make you nervous ,Im sure you will do fine , esp. since you made an 85% on practice, I made a 64% on my first practice comp. Good luck to ya.
  11. OMG!!! Just checked pearson vue!! I PASSED!!!!! YEAH!!!! Thanks for the advice!!!:balloons: :balloons:
  12. can i join you; my results are pending as well from 12/28/06 in Florida. i am beginning to go nuts and spend as much time on this site to keep me same. :uhoh21: The more the merrier. :) I guess I find out Mon. with Pearson Vue , I was hoping I would find out today but guess they dont give results on Sat. I could not imagine waiting for that long, I feel for ya. I also have been spending time on this site. Watched Blood Diamond last night to keep mind off test and still thought about it during the movie! Great movie BTW. Do you have any feeling about the test- feel you passed or fail? Where did your test cut off at? I had so many multiple answer questions , I was so not expecting that many. Good luck to ya!
  13. I just took the nclex-pn yesterday. It was not at all like the saunders practice questions, it was so much harder! I had so many med ?s I had never heard of and all of them multiple answer. So feel like I failed. Who all cut off at 85 and did you pass or fail? And do you think I could have passed if I got 6 or 7 med questions wrong? So nervous, its all I can think about. By the way, this is a great place, everyone is great here!! Thanks for your response!
  14. Are you taking rn or pn cause I just tok pn yesterday and it was so hard, nothing like the Saunders nclex book questions or ati test that the school gave. I would recommend finding a book with the new format questions. I guess they have changed the test recently. Good luck!
