  1. have you heard of jumping through hoops?:monkeydance:
  2. Every nurse has something they're very good at, and something they should know but are not so good at. I would rather a nurse tell me "I don't know how to do that" than say nothing and attempt a procedure with a sharp object
  3. The situation in England regarding the finding of H5N1 avian flu in the Bernard Matthews turkey sheds is very confusing. The story keeps changing, and not for the better. I am going to post a few links to show you just how crazy this is getting. I am having a difficult time understanding all of this, so if you find it so, don't be surprised... First, I'll let the Reveres at Effect Measure have their say: http://scienceblogs.com/effectmeasur...on_th.php#more Then, let's look at what the UK gov't is saying: http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/sho...80&postcount=1 Unfortunately, this study does not seem to agree with their assessment about transmissibility thru the GI tract, and it should be pointed out that some victims (since deceased) have had the consumption of contaminated food as their only risk factor. http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/sho...81&postcount=2 Last, but not least, there is this story of a worker, who participated in the cull. He was bitten by a turkey, and his wound was cleaned with ALCOHOL? He was not given Tamiflu until after his mother's doctor in Portugal insisted that he go to the hospital. By this time, he has flu s/s according to this post: http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/sho...87&postcount=1
  4. I am amazed at how low some of these wages are considering the cost of living. We are all making bout the same (new grad pay) yet, I live in a very affordable area.....just doesnt make sense.
  5. Simply put, no. $11 an hour is an insult. I have a $62,000 education and I would have to work almost 32 hours to make my student loan repayment, not to mention all of my other responsibilities. I think someone mentioned it before, but I know that Taco Bell hires in at $8/hour for a high school student! To pay a licensed professional who is responsible for LIVES $3 less an hour is extremely distu rbing!
  6. NO! I made that much money putting myself through nursing school as a private sitter many years ago! One sitting job I had, was to make sure my client only had 2 scotch on the rocks before I assisted her to bed!
  7. No way, I could work at a job with less risk. Just for kicks when I started nursing almost 30 years ago I was making $6.60 an hour and I thought I was making a fortune.
  8. no way! think what you are really asking is, do you love nursing more than the money you make doing it. In other words: if money wasn't an issue, would you still do it? I love taking care of people, and the whole medical side of things. But I also need to care for my family, providing the money that we need for school, house, cars, food, etc. If I only made $11 an hour, I would not be able to do this (I made this much as a CNA, not going back there). So if money wasn't an issue for me, would I still be a nurse? Sure, but I don't think I would work as many hours as I currently do. Probably do it part time.

  10. Just an interesting thought here, some people are saying that circumcision is forcing ones beliefs on another person (the little boy). So by that stand point should we not raise our children in our religion or make them go to church or tell them no to have pre marital sex? I just dont see the difference. Let people raise their kids as they wish vaccination circumcision religion whatever its all personal choice who are we to judge? Is it painful? I would guess so since they do scream but so is getting shots or somepeople spank their kids which also hurts... just my two cents but ill be circumcising my little boys, wouldnt have it any other way, why? my families personal preference
