  1. Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I really am so excited and have waited a long time for this opportunity to become a reality. Im willing to work as hard as I need to to make my dream of becomeing a nurse come true. Good luck to everyone!
  2. Ours is 80% in theory and clinical for Nursing and Pharm is 80% in dosage lab and Theory. They do not round and you must have 80% in all 4 areas to pass. They look at them as 4 different classes. We have about a 40% pass rate for Nursing I. I go to a community college and they placed #1 on our State Lic Exam for the most people to pass on their 1st try. They beat all the Big Universities.
  3. I started this past week and all of the homework I have seems so overwhelming. I have been working for hours and hours all week (which I did expect) but I feel like I havent got anything done. I am really excited and interested in what Im learning I just wish I knew how to study and prepare properly for the test. I have to say my personality is to put everything off until the night before a test or something is due. Thank goodness I feel motivated to get things done. I just want to learn how to use my time effectively. The program Im in only about 40% will make it to Nursing II. I definatly want to make it I just worried how I will. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful. Thanks
  4. I am also here in florida and no we do not get paid for clinicals. After your first semester you can get a job at the Hospital as a nurse intern.
  5. I will be taking Nutrition along with Pharm and nursing I. It is a coreq in my program so you cant take it before hand hope its not too hard since the other 2 are going to kill me by the end of the semester.
  6. I will be starting in January also with Pharm and Nursing I
  7. I will be starting the nursing program in Jan. Like all CC we have to take A&P 1, A&P 2, And Micro for our nursing program. My Profs in these classes (3 diffrent Profs) have all said they make them harder to weed out the one who wont make it in nursing school. Thats not to say if you fail you will not make it in nursing. Its to say how bad do you want it and are you willing to work harder to get it. Keep trying it will mean more to you in the end. GOOD LUCK!!!!
  8. Thanks everyone. It is a huge relief. I am so happy I get to start. I am also nervous because I know it is going to be a tough program. Im in florida and my program placed first in NCLEX exams passing rates. I am married with 3 children and I also worry about the time I will be taking away from them. I was able to get through the pre/coreqs with minimal studying so they aren't used to me being away to study. I know it will be worth it in the end.
  9. Thanks SUEMOM2KAY I talked to the Nursing Director today. She was hesitant at first but since I wasnt struggling with Micro when I dropped and my GPA is pretty good I can still start in Jan YEAH!!!!!
  10. Thanks! I am going today.
  11. This is my first post so hopefully it is in the right place. I have a question. I was taking my last Coreq (Microbiology) in the Fall term, I had to drop due to being in the hospital. I dropped on Oct 11th and then got my acceptance letter in the mail for the nursing program about 3 weeks later dated Oct 20th. This is a very competitive program 257 applied and 85 were accepted. I asked the academic advisor if I should notify the Nursing Director that I dropped she said No it doesnt matter. I let it go and started forking out the money to get ready for the upcoming term. My problem is while putting my course box together I found a sheet in there that I have to sign say have you met all the PREREQ and COREQ,s to remain in the program at this time. I dont know if I should show up un the first day or go to the nursing director. Microbiology is listed in the Program Sequence ( must be taken with NUR II) but most have to take it to get in.
