$9.00 per hour as LVN in Orange County?
either your friend hasn't been looking around for job postings or something HORRIBLY wrong is going on here. I have alot of relatives who are LVN's getting paid $20+ working in big hospitals and home health. All they do is brag about how much money they make and how content they are with life. What a waste to throw such a license away.

Er nurses making fun of patients
I couldn't imagine working in such an environment. Good luck to you and clinicals.

Getting to know the men behind the names...
I'm 24, I have a bachelor's in graphic design, worked a couple design jobs until I realized I coudn't see myself doing this for the rest of my life. Not to mention it's a very competitive job industry where jobs are scarce, pay is not stable, and there is no promise of any kind of 'security'. During those times sitting in my cubicle I contemplated nursing, what the benefits of working there were, and to really decide if it was for me. I just barely started the weekend LVN program, I'm going to clinicals now, and I hope to start work soon as a CNA when I take the state test. My friends are a little upset because I've always been artistically inclined and talented and would rather see me keep my career, but job security is priority #1 for me at the moment. Nursing will provide this, and I'm dedicated to become what I need to be in order to do my job well and effectively. I was the first out of all my friends to get a degree, most of whom are still trying to ''find themselves'', some of which I've convinced to take a look into the world of healthcare. Parents were absolutely thrilled, especially my mom whose a 30 yr veteran of nursing (ICU RN,supervisor).

Pinning ceremonies...
we had a candle lighting along with our pinning in our white clinical uniforms (which I hate wearing with a passion). Nothing too fancy outside of that, we just wanted to get the thing over with so we could eat the food we brought for us and our guests. People can only sit and listen to speeches for so long hehe.

Roll Call
DaveSVN checking in... although I think ''nurse_with_a_member'' would've been a better screename lol. Currently enrolled in an LVN/LPN program trying to start work as a CNA for the meantime.

"nurse with a member" LoL oh my gawd that was hilarious. Definitely using that one.

Are you in Nursing for the Caring or the Cash?? Be Honest
Any job profession that promises great benefits, financial stability, and numerous opportunities is worth dedicating your life to and worth fighting to keep the job. Not to mention nursing is a noble profession aiding in patient recovery where you directly impact the health and lives of many, not too many jobs are as fullfilling as that.

You'll never make it in California
sure, cost of living may be high here in Cali, but I havn't heard from one nurse (RN/LVN) about their pay and managing their finances, it's been nothing but good feedback. I come from a nursing family (maybe because I'm filipino) and there's no doubt in my mind you can live very, VERY comfortably in the long run if you decide to live for a long time in southern Cali. Best of luck to ya.
