  1. If it is mostly paid for, stick with it. I'm about to start the Vandy ACNP program and i'm dreading the loan payments I will have to make.
  2. Hey everyone! I got accepted to the direct entry AG-ACNP program and live in Nashville. I'm very excited! Even though it is VERY premature, I am already thinking about certification preparation, because that was helpful for me when I got my ADN.
  3. I went to the Open House last weekend and I think that Dr. King said there were 70-ish slots (I think) for AGACNP.
  4. I sent you my email address
  5. That's awesome jackpp!! I'm so happy for you! We will have to wear something identifiable on orientation day so we recognize each other :)
  6. That's awesome! Congratulations!
  7. When I got the news, I got an email that my profile had updated news and that was when I got the news. Good luck!
  8. No, it still just shows "submitted". Like I said yesterday, I won't be able to fully exhale until I see it for myself.
  9. Go for it! You and I had similar GRE scores and GPAs. If I got in, the odds are in your favor :)
  10. I will be. Did you call and find out?
  11. So I called and asked and the lady said I was admitted. I'm excited but I'll believe it when I actually see the letter. Good luck!
  12. I would call but I'm working . I am about ready to bite the bullet though.
  13. I just checked my mail and no luck yet.
  14. No, but I am waiting very anxiously! I haven't gone to the orientation and plan on going Saturday (even if I've found out that I didn't get in). Since I live in Nashville and I want to do Adult Acute, Vanderbilt is my only option so I may end up waiting another year if I don't get in this go round. Maybe today will be the day . Post here if you get any news jackpp.
  15. I just got the email today that my application went on to faculty review...fingers crossed!
  16. Have not heard anything. It's been a long wait so far and just a month in :). Good luck. Post if you hear anything.
  17. I am thinking about applying to the FNP RODP program but I really want to do Acute...what about you?
  18. AG-ACNP also...Good luck!
  19. I'm going through the same thing. I took my GRE a little late and got a 4.0 on the analytical and 4.5 is needed. I emailed admissions to ask if I would be automatically excluded but I haven't heard back. Fingers crossed!
  20. I had a guy who had some form of dementia where everytime he closed his eyes, he thought robots would perform abdominal surgery on him. So the guy hadn't slept in days and if he drifted off to sleep he'd wake up screaming. It was INSANE! Not really ridiculous...but crazy.
  21. I'm a new nurse and I work on a kidney/liver/abdominal transplant unit and I love it so much. The patient's are hard but I am learning SO much on a daily basis.
  22. I was in an orientation for my first job as an RN a couple of weeks ago, and the woman who was talking to us discussed the heirarchy of nursing education and the fact that it has stayed the same for the last 30 years +. She said that her educational experience was plagued by a teacher who constantly told her that she would never be an adequate nurse. She proved the teacher wrong but it seems to be a trait for educators to belittle students who lack confidence in order to weed out people whom they deem to be unfit to become a nurse. Of course that's not right. Prove them wrong. When I started nursing school, I noticed this "trait" among teachers and I made it a point to act with total confidence even if I secretly lacked it. I felt like this is what made me successful in nursing school. And smile a lot :).
  23. I was a nursing assistant at Baptist on the FLEX team. If you don't need benefits, it's a great way to work. You make your own schedule and get really great pay. They assign you based on your experience (I think). The Heart Hospital at Baptist really is a great part of the hospital. Baptist doesn't pay the best but it really is a great hospital. They're applying for Magnet right now. I just got hired as an RN at Baptist South (which is EXTREMELY nice!) on a progressive/stepdown unit but have an interview at St. Lukes on the Liver Transplant unit. St. Lukes pays a lot better. Long story short...there's a lot of options here in Jacksonville.
  24. I took my test yesterday. I had 75 questions and was completely convinced that I failed the test. For Floridians, you can go to the Dept of Health website, then to Contact Us, then call the professional license verification number. The Dept of Health receives the results within 24 hours but don't post the license numbers for a few days. I was very excited when I learned that I had passed my test and had been issued a license within hours of taking my test. Best of luck to everyone.
