Urine output: When do you let the MD know?
Hey guys, my question is when do you let the doctor know for low urine output? I know to report less than 30ml/hr but how many hours do you go on by? do you let them know if let's say the last three hours have been At night do you follow the same protocol? Do you wake up a doc if urine is low? Please give me some feedback, I'm a new ICU nurse ? Thank you.

Am I being snotty?
Not snotty but it seems you didn't care for it until you saw what other nurses had...I would let it be I honestly don't see how having a BSN on your badge is all that important.. what matters is that you are an RN. I feel patients don't look at that stuff anyway (degree type) it's more of nurses competing and showing off with other nurses. My 2cents. Btw I have a BSN (putting it out there for the smart comments I will probably get)

New on the job and scheduling/leave
Hi everyone, I'm currently searching for a job and I have 3 days (fri, sat, sun) in January I plan to take a trip. If I get hired will my employer let me have these days off? what I'm asking is can the scheduling be done so I don't work these days or would I be asking too much being a newbie? Also how soon after getting hired can you take leave? Should I just be upfront w/ employers that offer me a job that these 3 days in jan I would like to be off?? I need to know if I can schedule this trip now. Thank you! :loveya:

SICKLE CELL CRISIS: Oxygen or Fluids??
I do not think it's pain relief. If you unclump the sickled cells by giving fluids there wouldn't be any pain.

What areas are you weak on? focus on those. if it's peds read about peds and then do questions only on peds from different books/online. I think you should up your studying hours.
