I am an RN student graduating May 2010 and did my Advanced Med/Surg. rotation at this hospital and fell in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am particularly interested in working in the ER. I am interested in knowing if they prefer Santa Ana college students ove...
I just finished LVN school here and was planning on applying to the bridge programs numerous community collegs here have. However, the requirements are different now, they require a transition course, where some only offer it once a year and you need...
Recently while having a discussion with my manager on the second day of my job, the vice president comes in, introduces herself, and interrogates me about why I chose nursing and my motives for moving out of state. I did not mind the inquisition, how...
Thanks. I try not to let little things get to me. In the future I plan to think about it and laugh. I learned today that she is currently on chemotherapy so.....I took that into consideration. I'll just learn what I can and pray for her
Due to the economy, I've decided to relocate and have applied to jobs out of state. I have no problem moving as I have no obligations. My father was in the military and I have been to 6 elementary schools, so I am no stranger to adapting to change. M...
Since I want to work in a hospital and already have my RN license, I was wondering if they'd accept me as a regular volunteer. The thing I'm concerned about is liability... I feel that by volunteering I'd get the hang out the people and culture...and...
I've always been a nurturing person....(though unfortunately sometimes in toxic situations.) It's trying at times but whenever I feel a bit jaded, I take a mental health day....to go running, get pampered, and spend time with loved ones. I DO want to...
Appearances do matter. I'm 5'1" and have been described as "demure" and "sweet" but there is always a limit to anyone's kindness... I understand that the first person you'd ask for help wouldn't be me if some 300 lb psych. pt decided to become comb...
It used to be funny that people that were unfamiliar with healthcare would tell me that pursuing nursing was great because it was a "recession proof job", NOW, it's irritating. I have NEVER witnessed such unprofessionalism from managers and DONs. TW...
You know what is worse? I just found out that they hired my coworker, who I informed of the opening because I was told they would need more people, and he was called today and asked when he could start. He told me in his interview they were looking t...
Not a question, but statement, "Well, you are so calm...." Give me a break, I'm coming off the meth or maybe I'm imagining how I'm going to devour you like Hannibal Lectur. JK
I wanted to know why you were chosen out of all applicants as a new grad. in the ER. Did you have other certifications other than ACLS, BLS, or PALS? Such as NIHSS and EKG? Were you an ER Tech/EMT/Paramedic prior? Did you rotate there? Did you networ...
I've recently graduated from LVN school and passed the NCLEX, now I need a job. I've been looking on Monster, Hotjobs, Craigslist, I've called a majority of hospitals and they want experience. I think I may have to apply to a long term care facility ...
And so forth. I did a search online and the only results were for job opportunities. I've heard that BSN RNs are automatically II, is this true? Also, as a new grad. RN with an Associate's (soon to be, fingers crossed) will I have to have a year(s) ...
I'm currently enrolled in an ADN program and wanted to work in NICU. We have a preceptorship, however, NICU is not an option. Should I do ICU/ER for the experience? Or would OB be better? Do a majority of NICU RN's have BSNs?

Thank you! I've finally adjusted to the RN program here. Rns have so much more independence, something I'm not used to as an LVN. Good luck in your classes and keep your head up. You'll be an LVN before you know it.

My goal was to get my LVN only to apply to the LVN-RN bridge programs at local community colleges and try to bypass the long wait. I'm not familiar with the wait now but when I had my prenursing prereqs done it was 3 years. I got my LVN, applied to l...
I want to move to SF after RN school, but after reading some of the posts I'm a bit discouraged about finding a job as an RN with only LVN experience. Do LVN-RNs have an easier time finding employment? Is our experience useful to hospitals or do they...
The Commuter is right; it stands for Golden West College. It's in Huntington Beach, Ca. The application process was easy, however, I believe it has changed recently. The application itself was upfront though. It's just that they took a year to notify...
So fast forward from LVN graduation, NCLEX testing, passing, and getting my first job. I've been at my current employer for over half a year. Like most new grads I was tossed to the sharks. (Don't get me wrong I'm thankful I have a job) I used to dre...
I was wondering which school most of you went to, how much it cost as a whole, and if it matters if your college is accredited...and by who? I'm looking into Stanbridge college in Irvine but haven't heard much about it. They offer a one year LVN prog...
Hospitals want a year of experience for LVNs to work in their facility, with a lot of private schools in this area churning out new grads it's hard to find a SNF or LTC facility that needs us, what else is there to do? I've done my homework really, I...
