  1. If the instructor has been checking her work all along (and sees where she has issues) and she suddenly does "well" on a self checking exam--he might give it a raised eyebrow. She'll be found out. Just keep minding your own "store.'
  2. What a great article! I am a pre-nursing student and found this very informative and reassuring. For anyone who is having surgery or knows of family or friends that are having an operation this is a good thing to share with them.
  3. I too, am looking at moving out of state to go to nursing school (from IL to WA state). I need to get a job first, move and then start up....it's a process, but exciting. Good luck!
  4. I am 46 and started my pre-reqs last fall.....I can't wait till the actual nursing program begins....good luck to you!
  5. Oh Lordy,...this brought back a memory of when I was a nurses aide in high school (I worked at a nursing home). I had to give an elderly woman a douche (I was mortified)....her response to me was 'there hasn't been anything down there since 1948'.....had to leave the room to keep from chuckling....
  6. I am getting ready to do semester 2 here in Chicago--I am 46 too and just starting on the road to being an RN....working on pre-reqs while working full time....taking it all one step at a time!:)
  7. okay, this is good to know..I am just starting my pre-reqs for nursing and I already ordered some scrubs (couldn't wait)...and wear them around the house.... haha the dog doesn't seem to mind!
  8. I am in Chicago at a CC and starting the 2 year program (doing pre-reqs this fall)....so you are not alone!
  9. Great news for you!:balloons: I too, want to go into the SANE field of nursing...(I am just in my nurse school prepping stage). How long was your training for? And did you attend any of the SANE workshops, seminars prior to going into nursing? Thanks and good luck.
  10. I supervised a group of women older than me in a medical laboratory setting....I had 3 imparticular that were always going back and forth and the one would come to me and report what the other 2 were doing...I referred to them as my 'Bermuda Triangle'....finally after having enough..I mentioned to the informer that if she had so much time to report on what the others were doing...she must not have enough to do herself. More work was pushed her way....pretty much ended that.
  11. Good luck to you too! It's never too late....and nursing has so many opportunities and venues. Are you going into any area of specialty? I would like to go into forensic nursing....but keeping the options open.
  12. I just joined this website and have enjoyed reading the exchanges and information. I am looking to begin my nursing career at 44! I was wondering if I should begin with the LPN and work at that level while pursuing my RN or should I just start the RN program now. (I need to complete my associates first.)
