nursing malpractice insurance
I was told by employer that I should not carry it, because I am covered under their policy. If I was to be sued, instead of being represented by the attorneys at my hospital (Tx Children's) I would be represented by some other random attorney...Also, they would come after not only my employers policy, but my individual policy as well. Something to look at, I guess.

How to put job offer on hold while considering others?
- How to put job offer on hold while considering others?
Don't put an offer on "hold".....Accept every offer you receive, then go through and start making the calls to decline. That is what I ended up doing, and it worked out to be perfect.- Of all the courses, which was most difficult for you?
Med Surg I and II...by the time I took Med Surg III, I had been in the clinical setting enough to where it actually "clicked" and I finally understood it. I absolutely HATED med surg. Peds, OB/L&D and Psych were by far the easiest. Pharm was pretty simple, too. I now work in Peds.- My HESI story.
We had to pass the HESI exit exam in order to graduate, too. Out of the 16 who took it, 12 passed the first time. I think the issue for you is that your nursing school is doing you a diservice by not teaching you appropriately....if they are teaching you correctly, and what you need to know, you should be able to pass the HESI. I have to say, the HESI is much more difficult than the actual NCLEX. Also, when we signed the contract for nursing school, we signed stating we were aware that there was an exit exam that HAD TO BE PASSED in order to graduate...Did your school make you sign such an agreement? If so, I don't see how you can get around it legally? Is it fair???? Not sure. I think it is unfair that you have not been taught what you need to know in order to pass the exam...they have denied you of a good education. that should rest on their shoulders. Also, two out of three passing the NCLEX is not a 99percent pass rate...that is a 66 percent. Still is HORRIBLE.- Please Help: A Few Nclex Questions...:(
I used Saunders and passed NCLEX the first time with 75 questions. I think the Kaplan review is way more complex/difficult than the NCLEX actually is.- Terminated because of my Attention Deficit Disorder
I think ADD exists, but I don't see how it can be classified as a "disability" in adults.- Terminated because of my Attention Deficit Disorder
Well, I work in the ER, and if she cannot handle time management as a floor nurse, there is NO WAY she can handle time management in the ER.- Attention all 50 states: what is your nursing ratio? please post!
I am in a Pediatric ED...the ration ranges from 1:3-1:10 in the rapid treatment area.- I think peri/rectal swabs are a humiliating 'welcome' to the hospital
I'm just glad that I work in Pediatrics...I don't think I could handle daily rectal swabs on grown adutls.- i'm 18 graduating from an alternative school. Want to become an RN?
I don't think you have to admit anything you did as a minor.- Too much sadness this shift...
Yeah, it stinks...I went into work the other night (I work in a pediatric ER) and noticed there was a red dot in one of my rooms. I asked what was going on, and I was told they were probably coding someone. I found out during report that there was a baby in there that had passed a couple of hours before, and the parents were still in saying good bye. It was hard..- Doctors with poor English Skills
How about the foreign born nurses...I can't understand a world half of them say. Is that ok?- Are you aware of how you conduct yourself in public?
I think the main problem is him showing up to work "hungover". I would bet that he is still intoxicated.- Is Peds really for me?
I work in a Pediatric ER, and a lot of babies come through. The thing about the ER is you stabilize and either send them home, or move them to the floor, so you don't spend a lot of time with the kids. In reality, you are mostly dealing with the parents, and the parents of babies are sometimes a little more demanding. Also, their are A LOT of male nurses in my unit. Not so much on the floors, but in the ER, I would guess a third of the nurses are male.- I M UPSET !!! Houston Community..

- Which hospitals claim to be on a hiring freeze?
Well, I guess the moral of the story is to apply everywhere. THey Memorial Hermann I was trying to get into was Memorial City. Also, TCH IS in a hiring freeze in some units, then. I know in mine (ER) they are not hiring any new people.- Which hospitals claim to be on a hiring freeze?
Texas Children's is in a freeze. I was told by my nurse educator, and the director of my unit confirmed it at a meeting a couple weeks back. I had an interview with Memorial Hermann in November for an intership program. I was called the day of my interview and was told that they were in a hiring freeze and were not hiring new grads. Only one person from my graduating class got on with Memorial Hermann, and that was before the hiring freeze started in November. Not sure if it is still going on there or not.- LPN and RN: What are the differences?
I don't know....there are no LVN's where I work.- Help! New BSN grad moving to Houston
I work at Texas Children's, and my nurse educator told us that there is a hiring freeze. Unfortunately, I think that might be the environment at most of the hospitals.- Starting PIV = bane of my existance. Any advice?
I am a new grad nurse in a pediatric ER. I was nervous that the kids were going to be hard, but out of the 10 or so I have had to start, I only missed one. I actually got flashback on it, but it wouldn't flush. I think practice will make perfect. Also, I start them all in the hands. Once in trauma, I saw the nurse start in the AC, but other than that, they are started in the hands (or the feet in the liitle ones) - How to put job offer on hold while considering others?
