  1. I bet another PACU nurse pet peeve is when the circulators don't call ahead when they're coming back with their patients! I've been guilty of that a few times!
  2. I work with a surgeon who will get the cleaning supplies and actually turn the room over with us! He even mops!
  3. I tend to enjoy cases where I have enough time to sit and chart without racing with the surgeon. I work with the same surgeon every Tuesday and Thursday and it's all general cases. His cases are always at least over 20 minutes and I really enjoy those days.
  4. Congratulations!!!! Good luck!!!
  5. I honestly stayed because of two people. They became my best friends and if it wasn't for them I'd have been gone a loooong time ago.
  6. My manager actually supported me when I told him I wanted to become a CRNA and that I might be leaving to get ICU experience in a few years.
  7. Hi. My hospital has a training program and at the end they let me choose where I wanted to go. (i.e. Neuro, General, Vascular) I just graduated in May and the OR is my first nursing job. When I went through my Vascular rotation I absolutely loved it. It just happened to be available. I was worried about taking the vascular room since I'm a new grad with barely any OR experience but now I couldn't see myself doing anything else! :loveya: Some people might be worried about specializing in one kind of surgery, but in my room, I get all the other cases put in my room when there isn't any vascular surgery.
  8. I had the same plans as well. Get my BSN, work in the OR for awhile and then off to a ICU floor for that experience to get into CRNA school. I'm sure there is somewhere that will take nurses with no experience in the ICU. You might have to cross train while you are still working in the OR to get that ICU experience. If you do want to be a CRNA, I think the OR experience will give you an extra advantage. I've seen plenty of SRNAs in my OR that have never even set foot in an OR before their clinicals and they look so lost. This is strictly my opinion but being a new grad I wouldn't think you have these awesome skills to lose. I went straight into the OR and if need be, I can learn how to put an NG tube down someone again. Good luck!
  9. I have to take the ATI comprehensive predictor too. I'm nervous because I don't feel very prepared. Congrats on your score though! That is awesome! :nuke:
