I filled out the application for armor agency,3 weeks ago, still waiting. Worked for corrections before, would love to work there. Its also close to home. Please any suggestions. Is there anyone at the correctional facility i could contact, need a per diem,part time job asap.

Thinking of working as a school nurse. any suggestions, what does the job require. I work in med-surg and need a change.

Thanks. You said it all. I have met nurses with bsn,msn,etc,etc,. that have no respect for themselves or others. Some of them act like MSN means that you can curse,be abusive and rude to other nurses. Letters don't make you respected ,how you carrry yourself and treat others gets you respect.

forgot to add- someone who has an illness who is realy in pain needs medication, but some patients are drug seeking, who use the system.

A pt. claims to have sickle cell wants pain meds-test show no evidence of illness pt refuses to give urine for tox. Md:jester: insists on giving diladud IVP , LESS TWO HRS LATER ,dilaudid 4mg po, percocet prn. pt wants IVP only, finally I told the doctor enough, is enough- told the pt. I need some urine before you get anymore pain meds. SURPRISE, urine positive for cocaine, etc.etc. no more dilaudid IVP- pt signed out. later found out pt has been to 18 hospitals (yes-you saw correctly) within the past 2 weeks. Some doctors just want to shut the screaming patient up. I need my LIC. [TOO OLD TO FLIP BURGERS]

I read an article that said in the next ten years nurses with a certificate or an Asscociate degree must obtain a BSN. Is this in written in STONE ? I know knowledge is power, but I dont wish to go back to school. I have been 35years old for the last 10yrs, I am thinking of slowing down from my busy med-surg unit, going back to school is not in the cards for me right now. my job is forcing me to learn oncology,advance computer,etc. I dont mind its very helpful, but seating in a classroom or online. not now:crying2:. Does anyone feel the same way or is it just me.:redlight:

iIwork on a med-surg floor and I hate when the er nurse sends a pt. during shift change, after reading some of the responses from the er nurses, I :nono:have a better understanding. I think the best solution is to have an admission nurse at all times. my hospital had an admission nurse but turned her into a discharge nurse. how stupid is that:bugeyes:,when the need is more on admissions which takes more time. another suggestion my hospital wants is to have the report faxed. i dont know about your place, but my floor is way too busy and papers get lost. I like the verbal report followed by a fax, then again if I tell the er nurse I will call back I normally do.

MY ORIENTATION WAS 6 WEEKS. 4 WKS IN THE CLASSROOM AND THE INSTRUCTOR LEFT US PRETTY MUCH ON OUR OWN,THEN WE WENT TO THE FLOOR-I WAS SHIFTED AROUND 4 DIFFERENT PRECEPTORS AND THE NURSE I SPENT THE MOST TIME WITH, WAS THE WORST NURSE ON THE UNIT. THANK GOD, THINGS ARE CHANGING FOR THE BETTER THE NEW GRADS WILL STAY WITH THE SAME PRECEPTOR FOR WEEKS WITH THE MOST QUAILFIED,TRAINED NURSE ON THE UNIT. I FEEL CHEATED, BUT AT LEAST THE NEW NURSES WILL BENEFIT. I AM ON A MED SURG UNIT AND THE TRAINING FOR THE IV INSERTION WAS 2 DAYS AND I ONLY DID ONE STICK AND THEY:trout: REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANYMORE TIME, I REFUSED TO SIGN THE FORM THAT I WAS CERTIFIED. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHER I CAN FIND A GOOD IV CLASS?

I HAVE NEVER CALLED IN, BUT WORKING TWELVE HOUR SHIFTS, IF I GOT LESS THAN 5 HOURS SLEEP-I WOULD. I WENT TO A SEMINAR THAT SAID NOT ONLY IS IT DANGEROUS TO WORK, BUT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CALL YOUR EMPLOYER AND TELL THEM YOU ARE TOO TIRED TO FUNCTION- WITHOUT BEING PENALIZSED. HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET.
