Danskos and Bad ankles
Well danskos have saved me. I have a bad ankle that I have had from a 25 year old injury. I have had 3 surgeries on it. I have tried every brand shoe know to man. I have a 9 1/2 size. The big key is... you have to break the shoes in first... no matter if you think they are comfortable or not. especially with people who have any issue. You can only wear them like 2 hours the first time, then move up to 4 hours, then 6 hours. and so on.. until you reach 12 hours. If you do not do this your feet will kill you after the first shift and youll never want to put them on again.. but once you get to the point you can wear them your whole shift, you will not need anything else. Even if they feel comfortable and you think you do not need to break them in after so many hours. you have to. However, I am a believer in never wearing the same pair of shoes 2 shifts in a row, so I have 2 pair that I alternate.

ASU BSN "critical track" course questions..
You do not have to have associates first. Just prereqs to apply to asu nursing program. Yes, I did my prereqs at community college then transfered to ASU nursing program and received my BSN. You can either apply for a traditional 4 semester or accelerated 16 month. I did the accelerated. The accelerated is difficult as you do not have much time off. It typically starts in Aug. YOu get a little time off at christmas and you get a spring break but then you go through the whole summer until dec graduation with really no time off. It is possible but you have to be really dedicated and I do not recommend trying to hold any type of job while doing this. I do not regret it, I am very glad I chose this route. Many hospitals today have career ladders and having your BSN gives you a head start. They also have just a regular rn-bsn program if you choose to get your associates and start working then do the rn-bsn.

NCLEX #2 today
The first time I studied ATI and saunders. I got 211 questions and new I failed. The second time I did Kaplan Online and then I did Suzannes plan. I also did 100 questions a day and read the rationals for each. I feel Kaplan Helped me with the way they ask the questions and how the NCLEX wants them answered. Suzannes plan with saunders gave me a great review of nursing content. I think the first time I just overwhelmed myself tryng to memorize everything instead of understanding it. Dont get me wrong, the first time I studied like no buddies business, but I think I overwhelmed myself with all the content. It was not like nursing school where you know your having a test on a certain subject and study just that . The most important thing that I did the second time was remember what was most important all along. I did what I could do and finally came to the realization that what God has in store for me will be. I do want to thank all of you who prayed for me and encouraged me during this process.

NCLEX #2 today
Hello all, I took the NCLEX today for the second time. I can not even explain my anxiety at this point. I chose this as a 2nd career; although, I always wanted to be a nurse. I quit my full time job and spent 4 long years in school with a husband and 3 children to take care of and working part time. I made it through school and received my BSN. I have so much on my shoulders right now.I cannot afford to fail a second time. If it is Gods will I will pass. Please pray for me and my family.

medications for NCLEX???
I feel your pain, Medications are difficult for me too! Just an FYI..Alot of times when we think of medications we forget about herbals. Although they are not perscribed it is important to know a little about them and how they can interact with other medications. Since your studying right now, I thought id bring that up. good luck on your NCLEX

Pathophysiology class online??
hi, I'm not in st Louis but...Patho is a hard class! When I look back at Patho I think, it is more important to understand the material than to just get a good grade. Hope that makes sense. I took it on line (mind you, when I was doing my prereqs I took as many on line classes as I could) I recommend taking it in class. If I had it to do over again I would taken it in a class and ask around for opinions on a great instructor. I say this because i am now in my accelerated BSN program and that patho class is very important. A nursing student needs to be able to fall back on some of that knowledge. If anything.. of all the pre reqs I took, Patho is the one that is so important and anatomy falling in 2nd! good luck

Questionable delivery--mom with cardiac history
Background: I am currently a nursing student. Graduating BSN Dec 2007. From a patient point of view(me). I had open heart surgery when I was young. My first child now 13 was an emergency C-Section. I was young and the nurse kept asking are you sure your water broke!! Yes I kept telling her. NO I DID NOT PEE MY PANTS. (she kept asking me are you sure) She kept telling me I was not dialating after many hours of labor. On the phone the doctor told them since I was a cardiac patient id never make without an epidural. Already in labor for 7 hours. Got the epidural still in labor, still the nurse asking me a few hours later if I was sure my water broke. YES IT DID! After bleeding excessivly my mother and husband depanded the doctor! Within seconds of him being there.... He said this baby is breach and COMING OUT. Emergency C. Then 5 years later I became preganant again. Everyone including my doc was all about the vbac until....He found out it was twins. Then he said no way. A cardiac patient, twins with prior history of breach and long labor. I had an awesome doctor. He said he would not deliver my twins any ohter way because of cardicac reasons and if I was against that, I had to go somewhere else. Now I understan why. What a great doctor I had!

"I'm NOT going to support his habit...." LONG
ya know, I have a problem with this too. Just because someone is an addict does not mean they are not in pain. They have every right to pain relief just like the next person, if it is necassary. And of course they will need more than the average because they are an addict. They deserve the same treatment the next person would get in the same situation. Sometimes people forget that addiction is a disease. A nurse would not withhold treatment from a diabetic that could be under control if they lost weight would they? no they would not. Also, a nurse should not let thier personal beliefs stop them from treating just because thier beliefs do not match the beliefs of the patient. just my thought on it.

Nursing school with small children?
I am currently in nursing school with a 13 year old and twins that will be 8 in January. It is tough, but can be done. I am at school in the accelerated program and gone almost every night of the week with kids activities. I am still able to manage school. I am lucky because I have alot of outside support. People need that to survive the program. good luck partyof5 hopefully BSN dec 07

Mommies and daddys in the trauma room.
We have to remember that healing is not only medicine. 42 years ago, my sister almost drown. They said she would be a vegtable if she survived. Our family doctor, not only recommended, but insisted and ordered... my mother be allowed in the room with her as, the hosptial would not let her. This was almost unheard of back then. I wont go into the whole story, but I belive that my mother at her bedside was part of her healing. Today my sister.. 2 masters and a doctorate..

recommendations for humanities class
medical ethics is a great choice as it deals with the medical field. I found it quite interesting
