  1. wonderful news..........remember always play as a team and it can get u thru the most hectic days............yepper girl you are a nurse.......opens many doors..and if you go on to further your career don't ever forget where you came from...i am tickled pink to be a lpn/cna/atw(atrucker's wife)and mom............tootles..............:balloons:
  2. I agree as a new nurse it can be very overwhelming..I had severe anxiety in school thinking i couldn't ever get it all done.........you really do learn how to handle it the more you are in it......that does seem high for a 3-ll..i always had 30 pts.....and i loved 3-ll...when you feel overwhelm talk to the other nurses on that shift they can guide you and work as a team and really work with your cnas..When I was in a bind i NEVER had a team player refuse to help me if i was in a pickle and i never refused them...some days are more stressful than others especially when the new admits come in and the meal time seemed to be like shewwwww would i ever get done.......I prioritized myself......and remember you are very new and in the beginning during my orientation all I could ever really get done was my med pass..I cried and really doubted if i could do this..I was slow and very anal and I felt so lost.....it's ok..share those feelings with others it will help..You do get better and you will see that in time......and it's ok if LTC is not your bag there are other areas you can work in.......I tried several types of nursing positions before i found my niche..and it's a toss up between home health and Corrections..............Now you want to see a BIG med pass go to corrections........gosh i puked the first week from anxiety and stress and NOW I LOVE IT>>>>>>>>>>YOU are perfectly normal in feeling what you do..To care that much to wonder how it's done will round you into becoming a great nurse...........Keep on going with it..good luck.......Tootles...
  3. Yep this is pretty norm where i have lived too. This state is gorgeous.and the people work their butts off for low paying jobs and I don't know how they manage..Now in my part of WV you are lucky to make 10$ and the rn's don't make much more than that in some areas i was shocked....My neice makes 14$ and she is a BSN at the hospital......Now this is only what i have seen........and i really don't see housing that cheap..with the taxes and cost of living here.....sure rent mite be around 400$ but sorry I want heat and not to rural.........especially here...........In fla..i made 20$ home health and prn..worked at least 36 hrs every week too..I got spoiled on that..and cost of living was average..........depends on what you are going for in lpn profession........and where you live those numbers can vary drasticaly...Me personally and this is only me..I think the lpn program in a year to make over 10$ is wonderful........I do know of CNA's that make more than that but i think that is far and few between at least where I have been.........oh sure i would love to make more who wouldn't........this is a type of job you have to want to be in for the passion it's hard work, stress related etc........like i said in my other post i have a degree in sports medicine and I love being a LPN........and we have alot of variety to choose in differ..jobs......tootles:balloons:
  4. Congrats on the new profession...I am not real new anymore..I still get that with some nurses..and right now I work for my SIL and her assist. living and she eats me alive..She is a lpn also..She won't let me do anything but pass meds literally 2 hr med pass 7 days a week..I HATE IT....for now this has to be done for alot of personal reasons..I have noticed when other nurses work together you have some you really make you feel proud to be a nurse and others really doubt your abilities...DON"T even if you are new..be confident in yourself and enjoy your profession..They say nurses eat their own and yep i believe some do..it's very competitive and I haven't figured out why...I do find me "mentor"usually an RN and learn as much as i can and be available to help all when i can.......You have a wonderful career ahead and the sky's the limit........So many differ doors will open if you persue it and gain as much experience as you can from your fellow team..Good luck..:wink2: P.S. I am one of the few who wants to stay and enjoy being a LPN..........I already have a BS in sports medicine..and I LOVE BEING A LPN!!!!!!!!!!!5 yrs.now...........tootles:nurse:
  5. Oh goodness you have came to far to completely walk away..I could imagine the hurt you must be feeling.....do all you can to prestudy again for the test........remember in school some tests could have been better scores to us...........use this energy to fight for what you want and get going with it........don't take too much time to start preparing our neg. can consume us..so work out things you must and get ready to tackle it again..YOU aren't the first one and YOU sure wont be the last one.........hugs and prayers rushing your way.......tootles

Hi...I worked in corrections for a bit and I finally found me tennis shoes ryka brand made by women..qvc has a great selection and now see them at shoe carnival..many differ. styles and if you want color..I like to stay in the white neutral range..These shoes had a great grip and running between pods and the mileage under your feet were a godsend..I love the clogs styles out there but I had a hard time with them in such a large facility between the wings..........but i wear them when i'm not working they are fun..:wink2: Good luck.........Tootles
  7. Thank you...and the admin. says it's 8 2 8 with no exceptions...even if prn...i was very confused i also challenged the lortab and ultram given round the clock together the pt..is so out of it most of the time..I was told you pass the meds and that's it..an lpn that just felt useless totally..and really i guess she's right i am only there for the med pass and that's it..
  8. ok i am questioning a medicine problem here...pt..is taking lortabs q6hrs.round the clock..ok now theother med order reads ultram tid prn..what times would you give this.........every 8 hrs..or 8am 2pm8pm..this pt. wants this every med pass.............this pt. lives in an assisted living..i thought every 8hrs.am i wrong admin. says it is 8 2 8..i am so confused...please explain..thankyou...
