Florida,romanian school
Gabriela, what nursing school did you attend in Romania? And what year? Depending on that i can tell you the steps you need in order to pass the board. Same for the user patry. If you see my post, message back. I arrived in the US in 2007, directly from Romania, been working as an RN since then. Worked my way up and now a nursing supervisor in Phoenix, AZ. Not easy but it's all worth! ;-)

Do you really want work with foreign nurses?
Hi ! I'm foreign nurse too ( from Romania ) and just started work in the US last week . the nurses in the hospital I work now are really nice and you can ask whatever question you have , they will never get upset and they will always give you a hand ! I like that I am ashamed to say that I would have liked to get that kind of support and help in Romania . On my floor there is also a nurse from Cehia so .... you'll probably meet more in the US . But .... one piece of adivice : learn to speak , read and understand English very good ! Otherwise , you'll have problems understanding your perceptors , doctors , other nurses as well as what the patients will ask or say . You're a nurse , you have duties and responsabilities and you MUST understand the patient's needs so you can address them in the most appropiate and fastest way . Nursing is the same all over the world but we need to adjust to changes we've made by arriving here , to the new system and .... to a new life ! Good luck in your next job into the US !

previous work experience as a RN does it count in the US?
Seeing your nick I was thinking that you are from Romania . No work experience would count when start working in the US , we are all "new graduate " here . :wink2: Good luck !

Who did CES and how long did it take?
Hi ! It took about 3 months to receive CES . But , you all have to take into consideration that I had a really hard time to have the documents sent to Philadelphia from my nursing school ( in Romania ) . After that I applied to AZ Board of Nursing and it took only a month until I received the ATT for NCLEX .

NCLEX in Gearmany
Hello ! I'm from Romania and took CGFNS in Frankfurt twice , in November 2004 (failed) and July 2005 ( passed ) . In July there wewre two nurses from Belarus there but I can't tell you anything about their visas . However , you may want to try to take sit the exam in UK if you do not get a visa for Germany . If your ATT expires you'll most probably have to pay again for NCLEX registration .

Italian nurses
Hi ! I'm not Italian but know nurses working there . A nurse salary in Italy is not even close to a nurse working in the US ( between $1500 and $2000 ) . Cost of living is also higher there than in the US . The major reason for which you do not see italian nurses to work in USA is the language , they have a hard time in learning English .

Need to take a course to be eligible for RN exam
Hello ! I am a foreign nurse too ( Romanian ) and had the same problem with Mental Health / Psych nursing . Fortunately , I could attend some courses in my country but before that I made some research and found some available courses at Maricopa University in Phoenix , Az . You can make a try !

IELTS vs TOEFL iBT
Hello ! I'm a foreign nurse and took TOEFL for my Visa Screen . I speak and write in English very well and have no communication problems , with all these I had problems in passing TSE . I took it 4 times , each time my score was 45 . Then I decided to take IELTS and passed the speaking part with a score of 8 . I found that was easier to talk to a person than to a machine like you have to do if taking TSE .
