Haven't been on here in a while...but happy to hear from everyone...nursing student with 67 days left....

Oh wow! So that made it about 8 months...Now Excelsior has sent me information but they wanted me to call them a lil closer to graduation. WHat I need to know is...if I do take my pre-req's at a local community college...how do I know what classes will transfer over...how do you do it....If I ask will they tell me or advise me not to do it....

What is the shortest length of time it took to complete the Rn Program....

My advice to you...is to apply to many nursing programs the ones that have accelerated RN degrees...and a lot of schools offer them...even online....and see where that takes you....talk to advisors...see how long the wait will be...and what you have to do...if the process is longer than expected then try the LPN route...but that is really a step backwards that should be your last option....try even...Associte Programs before trying LPN...just because you already have a degree....

Hey guys...its me again... I am currently in the LPN Program at Stone...and I totally agree with what everyone is saying ...it is very expensive at this school...5 times more than state LPN program...and the same as some RN Programs....I would have done anything to become a nurse at whatever level...I am very proud of the decision I made..with 2 1/2 more months to go...A lot of RN Programs, don't just take you as easy as everyone says, after qualifying you have to make sure you get financial aid, among other things. I have other circumstances and reasons: I needed a quick program to be able to soley provide for my child...I didn't have time to wait...St V's wanted me to take pre reqs then I wouldn't start nursing classes til 09 to long it would be 2010 til I seen licensure....I couldn't do that...but you know to each his own....and I only needed to take 3 general classes, because I pretty much took everything else...it was a wait i couldn't afford...but if all works out I plan on finding a job that will pay for my RN...that way I only end up spending 20k for LPN and Rn...and I can still work and get paid in the mean time....It didn't care how much the program cost it wasn't about that for me....You do what fits your life, and what puts you at ease...either way it's a great field to be in...:balloons:

OK...I went to New England Tech.. evenings...I passed mod I but for certain reasons i had to leave school...Now I go to Stone Academy... days . I will tell you this NETI was $6k more than SA, but I guess it is worth it. NETI was very structured, where SA is trying to get there but they are not there yet. However, I can say that I am learning. All the girls from the first LPN class passed there boards, and where saying how well prepared they were. SA just became accredited and there program is about 2/3 years old. Good thing with SA is that they are affiliated with Goodwin College, so if you play your cards right you may get some money to go to RN school. But like every nursing school, it is a struggle to keep teachers. So if you feel you learn better with a lot of structure then you need to go to NETI. But I would try for both, tour each school and see which one you like. But hey to get into a nursing school, it doesn't matter which one, as long as you get in. And at the end of the day you can get that license. Lucky, your getting in there before the criteria to get in is hardier. But Good luck....

I am trying to see what LTC units in what areas pay the most for new graduates. I just met someone who graduated and said she is starting off with $19/ hour in Waterbury. I know you can make a lot of money with the state. BUt besides that what LTCs have good starting pay rates?

Smokeyoaks-What are do you work in CT? I am in LPN school right now, and I just met a grad who makes $19. hour, while that is great, I made close to that before I begin nursing school. So I was trying to find the areas that pay the most for new grad LPNS. Thank you.

thank you. i was just so horrified by the whole situation. that i just buried myself in my books. i am just hoping things will be better when i become a nurse. thank you for the enlightment.

I heard that the facility is not a good one to work for... very unorganized...and always short staffed....and they have a state auditor on site... you should try 3030 park

I been working as a new CNA on weekend duty for 3 months. Well, recently my job stated that a neglect claim was made against me. I am a Nursing student and i was very torn apart. Basically in brief- one of my patients was not hoyered out of bed. Older aides of the facility told me that the hoyer was not working and not charged on several occassions during my shift. The nurse heard us talking about it, she passed meds to the patient in bed all during our shift. The patient is oriented. I went to lunch and came back and the patient told me she was ringing and the nurse and several aides came and no one helped her. By the time I got to her she was tired of the run around. We had a conversation about what aides came into the room and the confusion. Basically she complained to her family that she was not taken out of bed. The DNS called me in and told me the state was called and that I was terminated. I wasn't happy so I told her waht happened the whole day, she said she would do her own investigation. The nurse, and the aides denied ever knowing what was going. Even though the patient can tell you that more than one person told her the hoyer was broken. The DNS tells me that she can't tell me anything about the state investigation. MY CONCERN is my name having an incident under it. My issue is that I honestly did not know what to do in this situation, especially since the nurse knew, the DNS told me that I should have journeyed to another floor for their hoyer. I just want to know how do I find out about the state investigation. And what should I be doing now?

i am in a lpn program and our Funds class is ridicoulous no one in the class can keep up...two tests less than 10% of the class passed...she is going way to fast...like we are running out of time...so i understand your dilemma...with chemistry.. i usually read before class try to see what i remember in the study guide and what i don't ...I then review what i forgot...try going online what ever you are covering in class..look for it online...sometimes other peole have better pictures and understanding....

I am a LPN nursing student in CT. I am not sure if they do this up north, but a lot of jobs will actually pay for you to further your education. Does anyone know about these type of programs?
