  1. I have been in your situation before and I admire the way you maintain your standard however, unfortunatly this is the practice that exist in the nursing world. IT IS NOT PERFECT nor is it close. Most other units will probably be the same way. ... On the up side of that, you will have no problem getting another job, assuming no bridges were burned where you are now. When I was in nursing school, the instructors warned of this. Our standards and expectations of deliverying care are not always the standards of others, and it makes you somehow desensatized to administration. You will find your niche, but even working on a unit that has a strict ratio(like ICU) , has its own problems such as the acuity of each patient etc. Good Luck, and Keep your head up !
  2. I understand your worry and fear:angryfire , but at this point do not drive yourself crazy. I took my boards on my birthday 9 years ago, and it shut off too soon into the exam(so I thought), but my girlfriend lasted a very longtime and we both passed. I think it took 2 weeks to find out, but does the state you are living in now post the results via phone(specific to you of course)? All you can do now is GO FOWARD.... Give yourself credit for all the great things you have accomplished and all the great gifts you have to offer other in the future. Afterall, being a nurse is more than any text book could teach, it comes from the heart and deep in the soul. Good Luck[ :groupwelcome: and Welcome!!
  3. That seems to be insensative and really outrageous. One would think that the hospital would go out of their way to take care of their own. After all, they do care for a large population of charity care patients and the price of health care is overwhelming, espeacially if you have a family memeber with a chronic condition. Usually strikes center around salary and health benefits. I agree with everyone. It seems that more than the nursing staff should be sending a message here. I imagine that non clinicians are affected equally by this benefit situation. Good Luck!!!
  4. Hello, I am moving to Reidsville in approx 6-8 weeks. I have been looking at Moses Cone and Wake for a job. I am nervous. The pay rate is less than I am making now, but coming from NJ I expected that. Does anyone have any input to the area. Reidsville is in Rockinham county , approx 20 from Greensboro?
  5. I also worked midnights and went to school full time with a 5 month old , 8 year old , and husband. I have excellent support and family. I had to sacrafice, so did they. I don't know how I did it , I just did. I was sooo worth it , I love my job and more, I love my family , my job provides a lot of benefits for my family , and for me . You can do it, just keep going.
  6. muomyst Iv , if I am not mistaken is for the tylenol overdose, it is dose as such. I am sure that this has become an "off label'' type use and it won't be long before it is on label.. I gave it in the ED for Tylenol ods and if not dosed correctly can be fatal.
  7. Everyone should settle down. While clearly a profound moment, and clearly a profound result. Everyone did respect the patient's wishes, but... I am only playing devil's advocate here, but... I am wondering how much the patient and his family really understood about being a DNR. While he was obviously very ill, sometimes the patient and family really do not understand all the options. ... Thank God for that cardiologist, he had the guts to offer another treatment modality for the patient and saved his life(with the nurse of course)
  8. Hello, I am a nurse from NJ and I have within the last year purchased some property in Rockingham County.I was just in Greensboro and interviewed with Moses Cone and was hired. My husband and I rented a home in Reidsville and we will be complete with our relocation by October. Compared to NJ, realestae is very reasonable . We will be building a home, construction will begin in a couple of weeks. I am so happy with the Moses Cone Health System and area. I wish you luck and if I can help, let me know
