  1. Willamette Valley Med Ctr in McMinnville is hiring nurses. There are a couple of Med/Surg openings on nights. Also some other nursing position openings. They hire new grads, might check it out. Also Providence Health just opened a new hospital in Newberg. Heard that they pay pretty well. I'm not sure about the NCLEX, might email Oregon Board of Nursing and ask. Good luck in your search!!!
  2. Just an FYI I work at Willamette Valley Med Ctr in McMinnville. We have some openings and they hire new grads. You might check it out.

TD: Make sure you do a head-to-toe assessment on each pt. Then focus on the pts area of concern and/or illness. This way you have a set routine with each pt and you won't forget a certain area. Sometimes you find things other nurses haven't found in a pt, just because you did a more thorough exam. Good luck with nursing school!
  4. 20 y/o with a "foreign object" in her. Doc did the exam, it was a used condom!!

I can relate, I have plantar fascitis in both heels and sometimes by the end of 12 hours I am limping! Lunch breaks?? I consider if lucky if I can sit down and eat something before a pt, family, or doc want something. Course there are only 2 RNs, 1 charge nurse and our doc on nights. It was pretty much the same when I worked med/surg, once in awhile a charge nurse would break us or we had enough RNs that you could walk away for awhile. I do love my job, but I can see how you could get burned out after awhile!
