Hello everyone, I am not familiar yet with the in and outs of CNO. I just want to know if you need the Ontario Certificate of Competence when you just received your license? I just passed my CRNE last June and will start working this September. TMy employer is asking for that already? I know you will get that certificate when you participate with the QA program and you only do your quality assurance program when you are about to renew your license which is at the end of the year? Am I right? Is your nursing registration/license, the one you can print on their website the same as Ontario Certificate of Competence? Thank you. I am sorry for asking such a simple question.

Congratulations Nataliak!! I am also an IEN who recently passed my CRNE this June and I just got a full time job. As an IEN before you come here in Canada and apply for registration just make sure you have the details beforehand and plan plan plan!! Nothing is easy in life, you have to think about the problems you will face so that you can plan for it. I was a nurse for Texas in 3 years before coming here and contrary to what some of you think, they do credit US experience. I am not sure about the other working experience since I can only speak for myself. I was also scared that they will not credit my US experience but surprisingly all my interviews were regarding my US Experience. I applied for my registration and my immigration a year before my US visa expired. So when I went back home in the Philippines last November 2010 I was already an immigrant and I got the decision from CNO that I can take the exam this June. I was applying for a job everyday through the internet since I passed my exam and they all called me after 3 weeks until this day. But I grabbed the first full time job offer because I know how hard it is to get a full time job even when I am getting calls from Big hospitals in Toronto. Hey, I would have thought you will be fairing better than me because I know hospitals will want an Ontario nursing graduate. I have 3 years experience in Nursing in Texas. Wait 3 weeks from the date you applied, this is the time when they started calling me. Most of the callers are from nursing homes, try kijiji.com, most of my callers posted an ad there. But they are all located so far, so if you can't wait and you really want to get a job, be prepared to relocate hehe. I don't have a car so I actually have to say No to some because it will take me 3 hours to go there by bus It really takes a long time before they call you =( I guess its because they have a lot of applicants since we all took the exam on the same date. It takes a lot of time to actually think of an answer for behavioral questions. I actually put all my questions and answers on Microsoft word haha. I just listed all the nursing experience I had when I was in Texas and then incorporate it to the possible questions. Just list a lot of problem/situation - action - results. I just wish someone would call me back already so I can actually use it haha.

Research common nursing questions and prepare your answers before you go to the interview. In fact, make sure you prepare answers for behavioral questions then practice. Goodluck!! I am also currently looking for a job and just passed my CRNE this June

I am from Mississauga, ONtario. I just received mine and I passed!! I don't have the registration paper though. They only gave me one paper congratulating me for successfully completing it. I have to send them proof of permanent residence since I am an IEN. One paper inside a white envelope. Anyway, I am so happy. Hello, I need to get a CPIC criminal records check for my registration for the college of nurses of ONtario. I only applied for the criminal records check FORM B. Is that the right records check? The other form there was for Vulnerable checks. I only have to wait around 10 minutes and they have my record already. I am just worried if I got the right one because the CPIC checks I heard from the others took them 1 to 2 weeks to get. Thank you.

Guys... amm how much longer? My experience is quite the opposite when it comes to nervousness haha. I studied too early.. around January to March then I stopped studying April to May because I had to entertain some relatives who were visiting. But I took the CRNE readiness exam 1 day before and I only got 70. I studied the questionnaires 2 weeks before the exam too. I have a big feeling I failed because.. I didn't feel a thing when I took my exam =(. I wasn't nervous or happy.. just nothing. When I took my NCLEX 3 years ago, I was so nervous but I did pass the exam. Plus I was really prepared. I felt like I left myself down because I wasn't prepared as much with CRNE. Although I read the Mosby comprehensive 3x -_-. The exam for me wasn't that hard but it wasn't easy either. You are always left with 2 possible answers but you are not sure which is the correct one . I can't apply for work either because it would be embarrassing if they have to let me go because I failed it. Anyway, I will pray for everyone. I hope we all pass .

wow, this thread is so old. Anyway, New Mexico and Texas both verified my licensure. Just email the BON to verify what kind of form they have for verification. Even though you endorsed your license, you still need to verify your license even if its expired. I got mine verified I guess because Canada just approved my application. Goodluck to yours.

I sent an email to the College of Nursing in Ontario, regarding the IELTS exam since they did not specify what kind of IELTS they are looking for. They said general or academic training are both accepted.

That is what I plan to do. Right now I have to renew all my nursing license first before I send them my B-forms . I am also pursuing my immigration application at the same time so life is stressful at the moment haha.

My friend is an RN in Ontario already. They handle cases differently though, for my friend, she has BSN in the Philippines, but she's also a 2nd degree holder. She just submitted all her requirements, all her degrees with matching course description. They let her take the CRNE and she passed it already. No more bridging programs for her. Right now, she is working as an RN. She said she submitted all her requirements on April 2007 or 2008, then she get to take the exam on October the same year. BY the way, she was in Canada at that time when she was applying. I'm also applying. CNO might handle my case differently, might take longer and so on, but I'm willing to wait because I'm working here in USA for now.

Hi, I just want to ask if you think I still need to submit a current Ielts to Canadian Immigration. They have 2 options, either submit an Ielts exam (general training) or written documentation (degrees, work experience) that your English is sufficient enough. I have been working here in USA for almost 2 years as a nurse and I have my Ielts result (2 years ago, Academic Training). But the canadian embassy said they strongly advise Foreign skilled workers to take an Ielts exam when their first language is not English. I plan to send them my old Ielts exam as well as written documentation. Do you think I should take another exam? Thank you.

Hello, I just want to clarify this. I am applying in Canada as an RN and they need to verify of course my license in USA. I have two licenses, one from Texas and one from New Mexico but I am currently working in Texas and my nursing license in New Mexico is expired already (actually I didn't work there at all I just took the exam). Do I have to send licensing verification to New Mexico even though my license is expired? Will it be a problem if my license is expired? The packet said I have to verify my license "from all provinces, territories or countries where you have been, or still are, registered, licensed or certified as a nurse?" I just want to make sure because I don't want to waste money sending verification fees and of course I want to complete my documents. And also, New Mexico's license verification states that "WE DO NOT VERIFY RN/LPN LICENSURE TO OTHER BOARDS OF NURSING OR TO PRIVATE ENTITIES. YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF STATE BOARDS OF NURSING (NCSBN) AT WWW.NURSYS.COM" -- Well college of nursing in ONtario is considered board of nursing right? but when I check http://www.nursys.com is states: :uhoh21: Who is not eligible to use Nursys for License Verification? If one or more of these statements apply, you may not use Nursys for license verification. You are applying for a license outside the United States or Territories? Ok I'll just do that. Hopefully I can find an employer in ONtario because I think I can only register if I have an employer. With what janfrn is saying about no nursing jobs, hmm hopefully I can find one. Thank you for all your replies.
