RN to BSN at Excelsior
I just started the program and I received plenty of financial aid. Whatever else they don't give you a grant for, you may be eligible for a govt subsidized loan (very low interest rate that does not accrue while you are taking atleast half time[6] credits per semester). And they do have a low-cost financing program. I think our of the many online RN-BSN schools out there, it might be the on the low- to mid-priced range (credits are $355 each, other schools I see charge as much as $500 per credit). Also, if you got your ASN from a school that has a partnership with Excelsior, they give you a pretty decent discount on your tuition and fees. Here is the list of schools: Community Colleges - excelsior.edu They have plenty of good info on their site. Things are pretty clear and straightforward. It does take a while to apply and have the financial aid come through. It was about a 2 month process for me, and my friend is still waiting (she started applying when I did but I guess since her degree isn't from a partnership college, it takes longer to evaluate credits). Good luck! :)

job fair
I went. It was a waste of time. I'm a new grad, so you can imagine how that was. One of the recruiters, upon seeing that I graduated in June, had the nerve to ask what have I been doing all these months. Huh? How about studying for (and taking) the NCLEX and job hunting? Come on now. :angryfire It was so discouraging to see the recruiters' faces flinch when I mentioned I'm a new grad. "Apply online" was their usual response. Just not worth drudging through that rain we had that day.

salary for adn straight out of school
New grad ADNs are having a very hard time finding work nowadays. I'm one of them. All I see is minimum experience of so and so years required. It's pretty frustrating. This is the wrong time to graduate from nursing school. Check out this sticky thread for salary info: https://allnurses.com/new-york-nurses/name-hospital-its-184662.html.

Eww white uniforms??
We have to wear white scrubs, but over that this U-G-L-Y dark blue apron/smock that makes you think the last thing we are is nurses. In one of the hospitals I did my clinicals in, the RNs all have to wear white scrubs only. I don't mind, it's actually easier since you can use bleach on the scrubs after exposure to who knows what. But the dark blue apron is where I draw the line at!!

Stethoscope troubles...
I have a Littman Leightweight II SE. It's very light and I can hear pretty well with it. I'm very satisfied with it (I'm just finishing up fundamentals). It's about 40-50$, depends where you buy it. A few other students in my class use that one too.

Most RN's first borns?
2nd born with an alcoholic father. The 1st born, my sister, is too selfish to be a nurse.

What nursing school did or are you attending?
Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm currently attending LaGuardia Community College, but I'm just taking basic courses for now. I'm wondering, what's a good RN to BSN program anywhere but Manhattan and Staten Island? Is it worth getting an associates and later going on for a BSN program, or should I transfer to a BSN program now? Are online programs any good, and how accepted are they when it comes to employment? Also, any of you work part/full-time and go to school part/full-time? How hard can it get? I have a few obstacles healthwise and I don't have anywhere else to turn to for advice. I'm sorry for all those question! I have alot of them :) Thanks alot.
