  1. Yeah, they are. 79 in actually in Jacsonville. 69 cuts Rusk in half...
  2. When I was in nursing school, we worked at the Rusk Hospital for a week. It was great. I would have worked there when I got out of school, but I moved to far away yo drive...anywho... It would be a great place to work. And actually it is located on Hwy 69, not 79. There are 2 hotels in Rusk that you could stay in, and I think it is a quite little town that I love to live in.... I know for a fact that they have a sign up now that they are hiring Rn's, and they are always hiring LVN's and they just opened a new unit. The website for job openings is https://rm.accesshr.hhsc.state.tx.us/ENG/careerportal/default.cfm?szUniqueCareerPortalID=fbc767e0-795a-412f-8897-431b08f314e8 Hope this helps...if you have anymore questions, contact me
  3. I am ENFJ, which I think is correct for me since I am currently staying at home with my kids....not nursing right now, unless you count all the boo-boos I fix on a regular basis...
  4. I am so sorry that you have been let go from your job, but, maybe you can take this as a blessing and find somewhere that you can work that they treat the residents with more respect and dignity. Also you can let go of some of the stress of this situation, while you are in a "delicate" situation yourself. Congrats on the baby. Hope everything turns out well in the end. Hugs.:icon_hug:
  5. Most nursing homes do use disposable bags, but I think she was refering to her daughter when she said that and, most at home tube feeders use a reusable bag to help cut down on costs.
  6. When I graduated from Nursing school, I worked as a GVN until I took the NCLEX and got my license. Does CA not do that???
  7. I agree with the above options, and I was thinking about Lantiseptic too.
  8. Ask for more time in orientation, or find somewhere else if you dont feel comfortable. I have worked in several ltc facilities and I have never had more than 3 days orientation, usually just a few hours and then I get, "well you can handle this, go for it"
  9. I feel for you, I have been in a similar situation before, I just held my ground and made my opinions known about the issue, but it doesn't sound like there is much left that you can do in this situation. Wish I could be more help. :heartbeat
  10. Have you spoke with any other nurses in the facility about this, I mean, like your DON or Administrator? Maybe they know something that you don't. Maybe his family thinks he is a burden to them financially, if that is the case, have you talked to his case manager? Have they tried to get him onto state assistance? If they do come to visit, I think I would watch closely, so that they don't smother him! If he has not been deemed incompetent, then he can make some of his own decisions. Have you spoken to his primary doctor about your concerns for him?
  11. We are always short-handed, we will take all the help that we can get!!!! Thank you for the info.
  12. I went through the LVN program at TJC and I passed my NCLEX just fine. I thought it was a great school and a great program.
  13. Hi, I am looking for suggestions for LVN to BSN courses online, preferrably. I am currently a stay at home mom and I will be for a bit longer, so online is my only way to go, any info would be wonderful!!! Thank you!!!!
