what do you think of this?
In my state we get a quarterly newsletter from the board of nursing and in it it has a list of all the nurses who received diciplinary action against their license for that quarter. It includes their names, their license no. , the violation and action taken against their license. I find it informational and a learning tool so i dont make the same mistakes but at the same time i dont think i would ever want my name posted like that . How do you feel? Couldnt they just put the license no. instead of the name?

How can 1 LPN take on 60 patients in one shift?
I thought 1 lpn to 60 residents on night shift was pretty common, esp. in a non skilled facility. I live in Mo. and the only staff ratios set up in LTC are fire safety ratios . Are there guidelines for staff ratios for pt. care in other states? Am i wrong to think 1 lpn to 60 residents is common on night shift? what is the practice in other areas?

How can 1 LPN take on 60 patients in one shift?
i once worked at a facility on night shift where i was responsible for 120 residents! it had 36 residents in the residential care part and the rest were in the nursing home part, it was hard work, but i had 6 aides and a cmt that were great! it all depends on the staff you work with. i know most long term care facilities have just one lpn for 60 residents.

How does this job offer sound to you?
well if there are only going to be four nursing assistants on your shift that means you are going to be responsible for at least 8 patients yourself . if they are total care like you say that means you are going to be responsible for seeing each one is fed ,taken to bathroom every 2 hrs, turned every two hours, oral care, linen changes etc, sounds like a big job for one aide to eight residents. i would try to find a job where there have a better staff to patient ratio!
