  1. I had it for a couple of years. It was horrible! I did not see a PT or a podiatrist though. I tried several different shoes, then I went to roadrunnersports.com and found the "perfect" shoe for my build and arch type. No more problems going on 3 years!!
  2. I kind of liked 3-11 before I had kids. (In LTC setting). The residents tended to be more relaxed and their families visited more on that shift, which usually made my job easier. I don't know why, but it always just seemed more relaxed and laid back. In the hospital, 3-11 seems to be feast or faminie. Either nothing going on or getting slammed. I'd prob. pick 3-11. I'd rather be reieved by the night shift than the perky day shift when I'm a zombie.
  3. Thank you so much for your feedback. Have you always lived there? What's it like in the hosp you work?
  4. I had that about 2 or 3 years ago. The pain was unbearable. My doctor told me to do stretches, and roll tennis ball on the bottom of my foot. It worked. Also, I went on Road Runner Sports.com and found the "perfect" shoe for my build and arch type. I've been wearing these shoes for 2 years and have had no more problems. PTL!!
  5. Any advice on how to approach this in a company who's "always done it that way"?
  6. Wish I could help, but I practice home health nursing in a rural setting. Very few unsafe areas, however, the police are ususally willing to accompany one on a visit in an unsafe place (that's part of their job). So if you decide to take the job, don't forget to call on them.
  7. What are some examples of the questions? Just curious. I'm not a wound care specialist, but I may can help some.
  8. Hi, I'm a home health nurse in Georgia. My husband has been talking about moving to Montana (for the past 10 years!) But recently, he seems more serious, which scares me. Anyway, I was hoping to get some feedback from Home Health there... and maybe get to know some nurses.
  9. I totally agree with Motorcycle mama. It took me at LEAST 6 months to quit getting every single paper I filled out back for corrections. Maybe you should go back to the person who wrote you up and express your concerns. Maybe you could suggest some more orientation to the paperwork?? I hope you hang in there, cause once you get it figured out, home health is the best!!
  10. Don't give up. And do you understand the reason you are having to make corrections? The reason I ask is that sometimes people who review our work may be just too picky and just have a difference of opinion. Remeber that you are the one who did the assessment and you are a professional, make sure they aren't having you "correct" things that are not mistakes. I worked for a lady once who didn't like the way I worded my orders & goals and had me rewrite every single one I ever turned in. Come to find out, she was the one in the wrong.
  11. I understsand your concern. On thing though, that makes nursing so appealing over other disciplines is the variety within the field that is available to you.
