  1. R U kidding? I took NCLEX-RN, had 75 questions, and then walked out in shock. It didn't dawn on me about passing/failing until I met up with a "well-meaning" nurse who kept checking the BON website to see if I passed (OH BON is known for 24-48 hr results). When it didn't show up when she thought it should, the sad look she gave me sent me into hysterics! I went home and started crying so hard, my husband thought someone had died! I couldn't catch my breath, couldn't see and finally, I started checking all day until 10:00pm that night, even though the BON closed at 4:30pm. (I was nuts!) Finally, resigned to the fact that I had failed and planning on applying at McDonald's until I could take the test again, I woke up the next morning and had my daughter check and, there it was...I had passed! It didn't even occur to me that the holiday had slowed up the posting of results. (I took it on July 5th). so, keep up that chin! I'm sure that your good news is just around the corner!:)
  2. OK, here's one...I found out I passed on the BON, printed out the "Approved" page and taped it to the wall. When it turned to "Active", I printed that out, too. :imbar When my license came in the mail, I still went to Pearson, checked out if I passed, and then went back to the BON to check again! Heck, I started getting on my own nerves!:wink2:
  3. We recently had a few nurses that were working for the state in corrections who were making that much. In fact, it was reported that 1 or 2 nurses were making more than the governor! They were doing a lot of overtime, though. I had thought about going into corrections (people have said it was great work, but hard to keep up your skills because it is mostly assessments).
  4. Of course, you can pass. The sxs you are experiencing are perfectly normal. I have read enough posts to know that it isn't the number of questions...people pass/fail at 75 - 265. My prayers are with you, but I know you will be fine!
  5. In Ohio, you have to have your license before you can work as an RN, but they will hire you and give you until orientation to have your license. I was accepted into a critical care fellowship, but also had a job lined up with the corrections dept.
  6. I will be popping that champagne cork tonite! Thanks to all! I have never known stress like the NCLEX and waiting for its results. Years of nursing school didn't seem to prepare me for it but it really did. When I sat down at the computer, I didn't start my test for 10 minutes. I had to calm down, and actually pretend that I was back in my kitchen, sitting in my PJs, answering practice questions! It really helped with the nerves. Relaxation techniques should be taught every quarter in nursing school!
  7. 1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? used saunders (did about 2000 questions, read the book and answered the questions after the chapters. about a week before the test, i went to the library and borrowed the latest kaplan. read the book, did the 180 questions in the book and did the cd twice. 3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? hesi. in order to graduate, we had to pass hesi at 4th quarter and at the beginning of 7th quarter, with at least an 850. i got 968. 4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 46 hrs. i was getting pretty scared because oh is known for quick posts, but by 24h, i still hadn't heard anything. as it turned out, they were behind d/t the holiday. 5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i was numb. i didn't even think about it until the next day, when i burst into hysterical tears, knowing i had failed! 6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes, and my last, thank god! everyone out there...you can do it! two words...relax & breathe! good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!
  8. Just to let you all know, especially RNs2B..... I PASSED!!!!:balloons: My daughter had to look it up for me because I was too wired. She covered her mouth and looked at me and nodded her head. I looked and there was my name with my license number next to it! Thank you, God! "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" Good luck to all those waiting. I was with you for 48 hours and know how you feel!
  9. Hmmmm...the alcoholic diversion sounds interesting...:biere:
  10. Yes, I am breathing! Thank you for the response. I am trying to push myself away from this computer, but I am enjoying reading other posts. Just about 12 more hours and I can call Pearson....
  11. I just found out that, because of the 4th of July holiday, there were no licenses issued from 6-30 to today's date. Maybe they are just a little behind...hope...hope...hope
  12. I took my NCLEX yesterday at 8am and am waiting on results. I took my mom in for a cardiac cath today and her nurse went to the same school as I did and graduated 6 months before me. When she heard I was waiting for my results, she immediately took me to a computer to check. She said her results were up in 24h and mine should be, too. Well, of course they weren't! She kept wanting to check and, pretty soon, I got so anxious, I came home and burst into tears! I just know I failed! I got 75 questions, no math, lots of priority and some "all that apply" and had no idea once I left the testing center on how I did. Well, my husband saw how upset I was, he offered to break into the SBON office and check for me! That got me to laughing, but I am still heartsick. I have been reading these posts for the last 3 weeks and I should be encouraged but the waiting is killing me. I already have a job in a critical care fellowship, and we are taking a cruise next week before I start my new job. Well, there won't be a job if I didn't pass. My family says for me to calm down, but I am a wreck!
  13. I also graduated June 9, and I just got my ATT yesterday by e-mail. I called Pearson earlier in the week, and they said they were waiting on the OBN to send them information. I check the verification board and it listed me as "pending". I tried to call them, but they wanted to send me to voicemail, so I e-mailed them about what else needed to be done. Well, by the end of the day, my ATT was in my hand after I printed it off. I scheduled my test for July 5!
  14. While I was doing my last clinical rotation (I graduated in June), a doctor was trying to talk me into going into critical care. I didn't believe I could do it. He said that doctors respect critical care nurses more than "other nurses" because of their educational level. I was dumbfounded! I think all nurses have expertise in certain areas and should be treated with the same respect. Oh, by the way...I was accepted into a critical care fellowship. I fell in love with doing neuro critical care. Now let's see if being in critical care makes a difference.
  15. It was doing my pediatric rotation. I did a day in the dialysis department and seeing those children in so much pain made me cry and I had to leave! Eventually, I came back but that experience made me realize that pediatrics was not my thing.
