why so mean?
thanks for your support. It's good to know that someone out there cares. It makes me wonder tho, if they treat us like this, what kind of treatment does their patients get?

why so mean?
thanks for the support, yes have moved to a different floor, Altztimer's unit. Think I'll stay there for a while, also 2nd shift seems a little more friendlier and helpful. Hope this is not what I am in for when I start my RN classes in January

why so mean?
Hey fellow CNA's and student CNA's. I am currently in my last week of classes for my CNA training. Graduation is Friday. I love it. Figure this will be a great job while I am going to school for my Associate's for RN. York county nursing home, not bad. (This is in PA, if anyone is lost). Love the girls in my class. But please tell me, once you go on the floor for clinical, and lab, why are LPN's and fellow, already graduated CNA's so mean? Do they forget that they have been where we are trying to go? We are only trying to make your day go by smoother and easier, by doing all the dirty work, but meaningful for the residents. So hey cut us some slack. We don't need sarcasm, or being treated like what we are doing does not count or that you are so much better than us. We all fit in a wheel of care. Help us out and remember you was once me. Remember back to your first week on the floor. I love working in the health field, but some of our fellow nurses look down on us and make us feel worthless. How about tommorrow going to work and saying something nice to student nurses, or CNA's. Sometimes it can make a world of difference in the care that they give to the residents. This was said with love. Just was a little fed up today! P.S (and the teachers sometimes can go a little bit overboard with their remarks also, I believe we are all grown up, treat me with the respect I give you as an adult.

York, PA student nurses
Whew! Big relief, To all my York, HACC student nurses. If you have been following my update, You know I was kind of upset about not being able to start my classes until Fall of 2007. Thanks for the advice NURSE08. I called PHEA, and the Subsidized Straffford Loan Administrators, they advised me that my previous school could not stop me from enrolling in the spring term. They had nothing to do with my financial aid if I change schools. The stopped the processing of my financial aid to that school for the spring. I called them withdrew. Started my financial aid processing at HACC, I go to orientation for the RN program on Dec 4th, register, and off I go. Thank GOD!. I have wanted to do this for so long. May try and go all the way for my BSN. Kind of nervous, my math sucks! The only thing is I have heard some discouraging news that after you finish your required courses that you may have to wait for clinicals up to a year? Is this true? Still excited tho, thanks for your advice and help. And Yes! I made it in. Start classes Jan. 10 or 11th.

Pay Rate for CNA/Medication Aide
I start my CNA classes at county nursing home in PA. working second shift also. While in classes I make 11.23 FT, after passing the test get a dollar raise, once finshed get shift differential of 1.50 for working 2nd shift. I don't think this is too bad considering PA has a low pay rate compared to where I come from Chicago.

CNA Classes
Did u ever fiind a school to take CNA classes. I am an former resident of Chicago, and I know u can check out The Public Aid office they alway's Tech schools that they can hook u up with. Or try the unemployment office Job placement services and training. You may qualify to receive payment while going to classes thru financial aid. And if that fails, Try Triton College in River Grove, Il I know they have a CNA program. You could also call around some nursing homes that have their own train/work as u learn programs and they offer the certification on site. Oak brook terrace nursing home is one and Elmhurst convalescent center is another. I do not remember these phone numbers but they are both located in the western suburbs. You may call directory assistance to obtain the numbers. Good luck in your search send me a message and let me know the progress in your search.

York, PA student nurses
Hello Nursein08, so glad to hear that there some fellow nurses in the area. I am sure there are more!, So you go to HACC in Gettysburg? I live in York, and they started that campus here, and the RN program the whole thing will be at york campus. Which is great for me, thought I would have to commute a little farther after the first year, was told clinicals would have to be done in gettysburg or harrisburg. At this moment I am kind of at a lost. As your profile says, about to pull my hair out. I am currently enrolled at YBI tech for CMA, been going about 1 and 1/2 years, have 2 more semesters to go. Well I applied at HACC in July, got accepted, took the placement tests, talked to the advisors, the whole spill, with the intent to start in the January spring semester. Unfortunately the school I am currently attending fall classes do not end until Feb. 23. The will not transfer my financial aid until the end of their fall term, which will be 2 late. As u know payment at HACC for the spring term is due sometime in Dec. If i drop at YBI, I would have to pay back my tuition, fees, books, etc. Next entrance into RN program will be fall of 2007, so right now I am a little tead off, disappointed, and a little hurt. I was so looking forward to starting in the Spring semester. Feels like I am moving backwards. I go to school and I am not even focuses cause it's not where I want to be. Need a spirit lift, HELP!

Greetings
Lori I am so upset and dissappointed. I am currently in my fall semester at a Tech school for CMA/Med. Sec. and billing and coding. All my financial aid is coming thru this school. My RN program starts in Jan. 11, The fall classes at the school I am in now does not end until Feb. 24. The will not transfer my financial aid until their fall semester ends. If I drop out now, will have to pay them back for the tuition, fees, books and etc (claim if I drop they have to send the financial aid money back, and that i signed a disclaimer stating in this case I will pay back out of my pocket.) I was also told If I drop I cannot enroll in any school until their money is paid back. So beiing that classes for the RN program entrance is only in Spring and Fall, I will not be able to start classes until Fall of 2007 I am so discouraged and upset. I can't even focus on my classes at YBI because I do not want to be there! Pray for me I need something to pull me through this. I know u understand how you have your hopes and dreams on something and how it devastates u when the floor is pulled out from under your feet

Headed back to school, first post
Hey don't be scared, I am 45 with a 13 year old in middle school and a 21 year old in college. I felt pretty silly going back to school as a freshman and my daughter already has a year and a half under her belt. I scored so low on my placement test I am surprised that I got into the RN program but we have arrived, its our time. Let's make the most of it. Who knows how far we'll go. Good luck to you and No you are not and will not be the oldest take my word on it!

So I got in...
So happy for you, I just got accepted at HACC college in York, PA into the RN program, nervous myself, I scored so low in math and english on the placement test, but they excepted me. Probably because I have 1 &1/2 semesters in Medical Assistanting, but what ever the case, I'm going in fighting. I know my difficulties and I am going to focus on them the most. I may have to start at the bottem in math, english, and science but Oh well! I am 45 years old and I am trying to be thru with this in at least 3 years. Who knows may try to go on for my BSN. Good luck to you and May God bless us both

what's training going to be like?
Good to see somebody is venturing into the same avenue as myself. I start my CNA training on Monday at a NH. I am currently enrolled in school for Medical Assistant/secretary/biller and coder. I don't know about anywhere else but in PA where I reside they do not pay MA that much. Found out would get more pay as a CNA in a county nursing home. So I start my new job that is where I am getting the CNA training. Hoping that I pass the certification. The good news is that I have been excepted into the January Class for RN. I am so excited I cannot wait. It was a long decision as weather or not to go for LPN or RN but RN won out. Hope I made the right decision. I am scared to death, I am 45 and I wish I had of started this years ago, but I guess better late than never. Good luck on your CNA training, hope you go on to bigger and better heights in the health field
