  1. My first day is tomorrow and I am so nervous..I hope they are kind to me, I made a change in career so this will be my first health related job, crosssing my finger, praying for the best!!!
  2. I would love to work with kids...I think I was captivated when I did my peds rotation on the NICU, those little babies are so willing to live, it is admirable..I am going to an interview on Tuesday..I know they will ask me the main questions...why do you want to work with kids...all I know how to say well ..it is that I like kids...I find them to be stronger than adults and they are fighters, but at the same time they are tender and lovable..I really hope I get the job..
  3. thanks for the feedback...I was also told something similar...(and yes I am from MIA, but I could travel to broward as I am just between both counties ), but going back..I heard that some hospitals have already started their orientation for new graduates , so I havent been able to find a job yet...but they told me to go to each hospital and talk to the recruiter ..I'll try that next week...thanks a bunch!!!
  4. Study everyday...at least 3 hours a day..I did it for five months religiously...(no life!? ...not ...give yourself some time for yourself and family!), I took Kaplan and review Saunders. Practice questions everyday, study meds, keep notes on labs every where!! I took my test 1 1/2 week ago..I prayed a lot and passed...:monkeydance: I've been out of school for over 2 years, and it was my second time taking the nclex, but I did it. You will do it too...just study hard! Best of luck !!
  5. I'll be brief: I just want to know how soon did it took you to find a job in a hospital as a nurse. Please comment! Thanks :)
  6. I know I might be too anxious, but I wonder how soon it took for other people to get a job in nursing...after getting the license ...I just passed my Nclex last week, but I am applying to a couple of hospitals, but I dont see many postings from hospitals with new nurses w/o experience. I even looked at the newspaper this past weekend and there were only a few open houses (two to be exact), yet only one refer to "welcome new grads" and of course it is way far away from my house...do we really have a shortage of nursing?...
  7. Thanks for the tips, I will work on it this weekend and see what I can do...Thanks Meloney!!!! I will do as you say..it does make sense to put just a bit of my past experience and everything ends up to the same basics as nursing.
  8. Hello..I'm kind of in the same boat..my only experience was the rotations, but I've been out of school for two years. I just passed the nclex ..so now it is new chapter of my life...to get a job in nursing..w/o any expirience..anyone has an idea..how to I start? where is the best hospital..where should I apply?..all the new dilemma..
  9. Thanks to everyone!!!! God Bless you all!
  10. Dont you give up!!! Study every day ..practice questions a lot of them, try Saunders review . Also if you could do Kaplan or buy the book, it is an excellent source. Lots of prayers..and you will suceed...Best of Luck!!!
  11. I had lots of priority questions, delegation, lots of meds, no math at all...( I was shocked!) and even some questions regarding use of machines and trauma. Very tricky test....Thank God is over!!!
  12. Nclex is very sneaky..so I wouldnt know, but I recently took the test and I know how anxious you might feel, but thank God, I was able to get my results quickly and I did pass. For experience, I also had almost the same numbers of questions as you , and none of them were math questions, lots of priority and meds. I was shocked there were no math questions, this was my second try at the nclex and last time I did had a few. For some reason, I did feel confident, but didnt want to say it. Take a deep breath..if you study and feel anxiously good...you should trust that...in the mean time, take some time off and keep your mind busy on something else...Best of luck!!!!
  13. I took my test on Saturday, this was the second time, the first time I took 245 questions and I failed 2 years ago....This time I had 85 questions...and since it has been a long weekend, I had to wait till today to get my results, I havent been able to sleep well..thinking and dreaming about the questions I took...but Thank God I passed..finally some relief for my family who has been negleted all these four months as I study everyday...Thanks to my family and friends for being so understanding and my friends at work who had faith in me. I got to say that Kaplan really helped me a lot plus did review content with Saunders. Thanks to this website for the tips for studying..they were all over my house and for the support from other peoples posting as I read them I felt that I was not alone. To all those people who will take it: practicing questions is the key to pass; know your labs and pray hard!!!:balloons: :monkeydance:
  14. Everyone says: eat something that will keep u awake and give u energy. In my case, I had my usual coffee, ate a banana, a glass of oj and a slice of wheat bread with peanut butter. You do need to eat and remember to go to the restroom before as you wont get a break till you have two hours through the test. PS. I prayed all the way down to the testing center and listen to music that helped me to relax....Good Luck!
  15. Congrats!!!!!! I just did my test on Sat., so I am waiting ...nervous...my test finished at 87..I had taken my test previously and took 254...but I am still sooooo nervous about it...I hope to have the same news as you...God Bless you!!! Congrats again!!!!
  16. Wow...this really makes me feel better...I keep scoring between 55 and 58 in the kaplan (mostly in the q bank), Kaplan has harder questions for sure....whenever a get a score higher thatn 62..it really feels like great!.. and I thought I was doing something wrong...I just pray to pass..my test is this Sat... so this whole week I will breath only questions and dream about them as well...:uhoh21: thanks for your words!!!!
  17. I wished I was able to get it, but I coulndnt it was too late for me since she mails out the info every two weeks, and I missed her mail out date ... therefore, I did Kaplan and I've been studying from the Saunders CD and book. Thanks anyway!!
  18. Thanks:yelclap: ..I am adding this page to my favorites...how come they have not mark this page as a sticky?
  19. HI eveyone! I graduated 2 years ago..and unfortanately I failed my the nclex once 6 months after graduation. I was devastated and afraid of failure..but I want to take the nclex again, so I was wondering if the Kaplan review is worth the money. At least for someone like me, who does not work in the field, and wants to start again...I've been studying off and on...but I wonder if I take the review will help me better than studying alone..any suggestions.
