  1. it works!!!!!! took the nclex on wed am, tried it wed night, wouldn't let me to the cc page, got the pop up. logged in today, paid for my quick results...passed! rn in tx
  2. Took it this AM in Ft. Worth, TX It clicked off a few questions after 196, that was the last time I looked down. I'm feeling so anxious. It was very hard for me, lots of priority questions, select all that apply and many questions on precautions. :uhoh21: Its such a random number to stop at, I really don't know what to think.
  3. wow guys- i miss you! the semester is coming to a fast end! thank god! i was wanting to see if you guys have any suggestion on prepping for the hesi. should i get a hesi review cd or something? also, please update me on you both, either on here or by email. you both graduated just in time! unfortunately for me and my classmates and the rest of the united states, graduate nurse positions are hard to come by. most of the major hospitals in this major metroplex are on a hiring freeze for new nurses, or there are just a few, as in a few, one, two, and three spots available. (which are filled) i am doing better than some of my classmates and i have actually gotten a couple of interviews, but no offers. a couple of my classmates got jobs back in january, so they are set, but most of us are freaking out! if you look over these boards, there are a lot of new nurses in this position. its craziness. especially since we have been told all through school that nursing is the best career, and we will have people begging for us when we graduate, especiallly since we went to el centro. i can attest that i interviewed for a position at a major hospital, over 70+ applicants, only 7 spots. i was the only one from el centro! and the manager that interviewed me, graduated from el centro, and i didn't get the job! ***! so, just to let you know that is reality for future el centrol/ northlake graduates! good luck and get yourself a backup plan!
  4. So funny! I'll keep that in mind if I ever get a job offer, especially if its a crappy graduate nurse one! (but really in this economy any job is one to be thankful for, even if the wall color is dookie green)
  5. I live in Dallas. Same story here. Most of the major hospitals are on hiring freezes. I have sent my resume and applied to every hospital known to me in my area. I've had two interviews, but no offers. I'm doing much better than my classmates, most haven't even had an interview. We graduate in less than three weeks and we are all in panic mode! No money for new graduates. Plenty of opportunity for nurses with experience. So frustrating!!!!! Its a shock! I have been looking forward to getting out of school and being a nurse for so long and now this! I am so discouraged.
  6. so true! I'm graduating in May, and I have been to two job fairs, and no interviews, not a one! Not to mention that Ihe numerous jobs I've applied for online. I'm a good student and I currently work as a PCA at a hospital. I know I have a job here, but I am interested in working at a bigger hospital.
  7. I have been working towards becoming a nurse for over ten years. Working full time, taking classes at night. So here I am about to graduate in less than six weeks. The big hospital in the metroplex, that I dream about working at is having a "marathon interviews" this weekend. Basically its like a big job fair, just for L&D wannabes! How do I make myself stand out from the crowd? What should I do to prepare for the interviews? I have a fantastic resume, I have worked as a PCA on a med/surg floor for the past year. Anything that I should mention or bring up in interviewing? I want this job !!!!!! Thanks in advance for your input!
  8. I highly recommend for first semester. Fundamentals Success, it has NCLEX style questions that are all first semester material.
  9. :ancong!: yang rn!!!! i'm so proud of you! there was no doubt that you were going to do fine school starts this week...... i haven't even looked at books, but at orientation they were telling us all the crap we need to buy and it sounded a little off for me. i will get my management book (which supposevely we have to purchase to get the one time use online code) and that is it for now! i already have tons of nclex books and i have the hurst review for nclex also, so i feel set and ready to go. yang rn, let us know how your first week goes ok? ttyl!
  10. Best Wishes to everyone taking the NCLEX! I know you all will do great. I ended up with the Baylor clinical for my last semester of Nursing school...it's so surreal this being my last semester! I am so freakin excited! I can't wait for May to get here! Keep me posted on how the NCLEX goes. ps. they changed the new passing grade to a 75.5. I hope that takes some of the pressure off this semester. TTYL! Happy New Year!
  11. congratulations! i'm starting my final semester and i can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. speaking of tunnell, lol. don't worry. looking back, i would have to say that she was difficult, but mostly if you are prepared and act confident, even if you aren't right then and there, you will get along with her just fine. she expects you to know what you are doing, so be prepared, read your text, learn your vocabulary! (she quizzes you, but won't tell you that) mrs. tunnell really prepares you for the clinical setting. some days she is a little bi polar :scrm:, but just grin and bear it that is the motto of el centro anyways you will survive, many have had her and are now nurses or about to be
  12. :heartbeat You are AWESOME :heartbeat Your a great writer, I was there with you! I'm so happy for you and that everything turned out for you. You are very blessed to have an instructor that sounds like she sees something in you and didn't go all out and kick you out to teach you a lesson or for whatever reason nursing instructors always go off.
  13. I also just finished third, and I am so excited to see light at the end of the tunnel. I am looking forward to doing some MAJOR cleaning of my house over the break, its long past due
  14. congrats to my homies- yang & jaxia!!!!! graduate nurses!!! it seems like it was just yesterday when we were all worried if we were getting into the program or not. what a great day that was, but i'm sure getting out of the program holds the same lol i hope to find out soon myself. good luck to you both on your boards. yang, i know you will be taking yours soon, how about you jaxia? congrats to all the newbies! check through some of our older posts to get lots of useful insight to what your future may hold.
  15. BETH! You make my blood pressure rise. Why not congratulate her on planning to attend, rather than critisizing her choice! GET A LIFE- I can't stand people like you! You have lots of nerve, you have never been in that situation, show a little empathy!
  16. YEA!!!!!! I'm done with third and on to fourth Looking forward to spending some time with my little man and working to make some $$$. I can't wait until I graduate. My husband is taking us to MEXICO! We both need a Vacation!
  17. Hang in there Jaxia! Stay focused. You can do this.
  18. YANG!!!!! you were supposed to have gotten reading material for pleasure aka (non nursing)! I finished Psych today. Only 8 more days til I'm in fourth semester!!!!! How do ya'll study for finals?
  19. Wow! I hope she got her mom something for getting her there that early
  20. That would be great! I hope they implement it! I hate that for three points your out....I mean really peoples! Even the BSN programs aren't that rigid. I have a question for you all. When do we start looking into internships...I hear they fill up fast. How do you get information on them? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am psyched about moving on to fourth, although I still have Psych test and the final to go....
  21. Any suggestions on how to prepare for Psych? Read text...do the slides help any? I'm going to go to lecture...anything that you can add, will be most helpful, Ms. Gray is teaching it.
  22. it went well, it brought my grade up, so I'm happy for that. I'm going to start on Psych after I work these next two days. I hate EKG stuff too, I work on a telementery floor, so I had to take an EKG class- that was helpful, but it still all looks the same to me now. I know you will do awesome, just keep your eyes on the prize!!! RN! and getting out of Hell Centro
  23. i'm up watching this historical event. i have cardiac test :redbeathe tommorrow. i need to go to bed too. good luck with the ekg :heartbeat stuff:d congratulations yang!!!!!!!!!! i'm so proud of you!
  24. What is everyone up to? I should be studying for cardiac. Anyone doing anything for halloween? I'm planning on eating some chocolate LOL
  25. Hey Jaxia- I went to the conference with the lady who wrote the Saunders book- I would highly suggest using it for Nclex. it has the highest rating on Amazon- lots of good reviews. I bought it this semster and I love it- the CD that comes worth it is awesome. I even use her book to use to study for exams. I don't even bother printing out slides anymore. congrats on the new job! I'm really excited for you and Yang. I can't wait until I'm going on interviews- It is really keeping me motivated this semester. ps. Did you go to the fair on Friday. I think I might have seen your twin or something.
