  1. Well you know, in Canada all over ..in all the provinces if you did not pass the 3rd one you are OUT OF THE SCHOOL forever and ever! so this is it! cheers:cool:
  2. :banghead:YES IT HAS TO DO IT ALL OVER ... and in Québec beleave-me it is worst...we have 3 days of exams - the 1st one we have OSCE exams (practic for 16 cases with facke people as ill people and some nurses as observers - it si so subjective!) and day 2 and 3 - writting exams !!! And more we have to take all this at Montreal or Quebec City!! (for ex I am from Aylmer a little city near Ottawa but french part) so I have to pay the hotels, food, my "anti-depress pills" heheh and the exam fees is almost 700$ so... tell me it is ok?? I think they do not need us, the guvernment do not want so many nurses end doctors here in canada or quebec whatever! I am so affraid, I am in my 3rd year and I work like a hell! sorry about my english ( cheers :heartbeat..I would like to know more about NCLEX if it 's possible write me on
  3. Well, it is nice to know that in US you can have the opportunuty to try more times for the license ! Here in Canada you have only 3 times after this....you loose everything: your credits from university, all courses made and passed! So here we are under a huge stress in a minute we can loose all the 4 years of university and 4 years of hard work and passed exams! So...???:nurse:I will need a doctor after! :)) cheers
  4. Gee, this is the most decent thought I ever heard! I am the same...so anxious just regarding the last big exam of my life..and I am in my 3rd(from the 4) year in Québec (Canada) and beleave-me I am allready dead of fear! Cheers:up:
  5. Hello there, I loved your message.. but I had a question though: I am from Canada (Québec) and here it is a very rough exam to pass (practice 16 patients and written 200 questions) so... if the 3th time you did not pass all your school is 0 NOTHING you have to move on with another job in your life ! (which many of us dont - by the way I am in my 3rd year of nursing school at Université du QC à Hull; we have 4 years!) so...the point is I had some friends which they worked on ER, ICU, etc between theirs final exams.. and they were quoted as "good nurse" on the floor..so what's happend , why after so many years of working and practicing in Quebec they push us practically to fail! so ... I think they do not want us so many nurses here! That could be the answer - because the exams are so complicated and involves 3 days of examinations ans so on! Cheers PS- 9 times NCLEX waw in my dreams to be allowed to give 9 times the license:))LOL xoxox good luck to all of you
  6. Hello there and sorry about what I heard regarding your unlucky moment with NCLEX. But ..try to see the positive side so listen to me .. I am a student from Québec-Canada...so here is to sustain the RN exam in 3 volets! the 1st- ECOS is practice -oral you will have 16 facke patients and different cases to solve each in 10 minutes ; next day is 2nd writting and 3rd another writting one! And more .. it is not in our city Gatineau or at least at Ottawa no... the stupid people made us to go et Montréal or Québec City!!! Away from home and surounded by teacher and observers we do not have a clu about them. And it is not all... we have the right at 3 times to try this exam, if ..you did not pass the 3 time.. all the study ....all the money is ZERO..nothing counted and you have (if you are crzy enough) to go back to school to pay again 4 fricking years of university and for WHAT?? Our wages here are the lower of lowerst....anyway.. sorry again and sorry for my English! But trust me ... here in Canada ..they DO NOT WANT TO HAVE NURSES OR DOCTORS they are just hypocrits"!!!!!!! Cheers Good luck chrys
  7. :yeah:nice questions (I am from Québec.. emigrated ,, actually I'm from Europe -Roumania) so ,... before I was dreamt to be a nurse (or more,..) but well I became just a chemist (organic chemistry) so I worked in this lab for 4-5 years and then moved to work with doctors at College of Physicians for a Palliative and EOL project (in Canada) so ... after this I was 100% determined to become an RN !! so this is it.. I love this ...:redpinkhe Cheers Audry
  8. :redbeathe hi there ! i'm a rn student in canada (québec side) - so sorry for my english! so..i am in my 2nd year and we have each year 3 semesters ( my last for this year will start 28 april for 1 month -mental health) - so far i did medicine et surgery and i love it .. but what i want to add is that we (the students here) during our clinics (stage) we have to know for our patients the diagnostic related with his medications (+++explication during preparation of medication) +++ we have to answer to the lights if we are available (usually we have 2 patients or 3) for our patients we do all the work starting to aid and to med-surgery care. in case you did a medecin (pills or anything else ) error...oh my god .. no matter how "small" the error is... you are out .. of the practice for the year!!!!! so is no joking ! so in quebec it is tought and the end of the 4th year the license exam.. oh là..là.. it is "creepy" - 3 days exams... 1 ecos (practical exam - 16 fake patients with 2 observers..and many cases ..diffrent situations) and the 2nd and 3rd days the writing tests..(just opened questions) . so you have the right to sustain this exam just 3 times if you failed it ... all your 4 years study are bye bye for good!!!! and belive me 85% of failure is the stress stress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so this is it .. i would love to work in states ,,,, cheers and be strong and ..no errors:) audry:)
  9. WAW... seems that in US is much more easy to get the "dream job" as a RN as it is in Canada! They give you hard time to find something permanent and decent! Cheers Audry
  10. i am a student at ottawa u (canada) the french class for four yrs. and intend to become a rn (a good one). this summer i was so bad impressed by some rn's from the hospital i worked in during the summer break that i've told to my self i will never be able to be like them or maybe i never be able to get into this kind of rn "systhem" . i am not saying all rn are like these ones. so, i worked as health aid (or in french we say "prepose" ) and it is a fizical and hard work. i worked my ass off like hell and i've done my best but .. the rn's (not all know that i am a student and this is just a summer job for me) treated me like **** (sorry for the word but this is the truth!) . what i want to say is: if we do not respect the people we work with we never will be respected. and if we do not start to work as a team we'll be nothing and in the health care field... the key word is team work and transparence which in theory i saw this words but never in practice! i am so affraid to start working as rn after finish the school .. to go between the "woolfs" @!!! sorry again but this is what i saw all the summer !!!! audry:balloons:
  11. Hi there, I am a nursing student from Quebec but I have this friend of mine who finished the Ottawa U and has to take the exam two times! Now she is happy and full nurse at Ottawa General Hospital (NICU). All this time she told me how difficult it is and how the questions are more or less not related at what you did during the school! So dont worry.. the exam is crzy hard one !!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so affraid because in QC I have to sustain the OSCE as well and the writting one is as "open questions" not multiple choices so... I am fricking out! I would like as well to find out how could I be able to work in US after I finish my school as well... So good luck !!!!!!!!! and Merry Christmas Audry
  12. This is very "classy" to mention the pt's name as well!!!!!!!!!! Audry
  13. Hello there here is a humble oppinion form Canada::)) This is a very mandatory issue - To introduce yourself to the client / patient (name, title and what are you intend to do further: why, what, where.. and maybe some procedure description in patient language .. to try to make the patient comfortable and to gain trust ! It is so important patient trust you and open himself/herself during the history take or coping during the procedure. It is again very important that all med procedure to be interactive (dual) . So I was a patient myself for a surgery and the MD's and RN's were great and very polite and they presented themselves in the first time!!! Cheers and keep the good work ! I would consider into the future to work in US as well:))) Audry
  14. WAW, thanks so much !! This is going to help .... Audry
  15. ..As well, if you want to go more simple (as general rule) .. you know that for 1 mg oral Codeine ... you'll have 0,65 mg parenteral! Make this sens? xxCheers A.
  16. I can never agree more than the fact I passed through a delivery and I had some complication during the delivery process.. so imagine if I would have had my baby home and unsafe?? Just few minutes in a newborn's life make a difference!!!! Life is so precious - so NEVER DELIVER A BABY HOME! (not for the "sake" of a "silent birth" :)) cheers to all a humble student first year RN - Canada Aydry:balloons:
