  1. I have a friend going to school out of state for her "medical imaging" degree. I explained that I know a little bit about the radiology and ultrasonography careers having done some research, but she said the medical imaging degree covers a more broa...
  2. due to a busy schedule, i've been looking at colleges with weekend, part-time, and hybrid/online components for their nursing programs. seen the threads on multiple colleges in az and figured since most of us are looking for the same thing, one threa...
  3. There's an Apollo 4-5 miles from my work and I've dealt with them before back when I was looking into Massage Therapy. Our community colleges (Maricopa) has re-adjusted the pre-reqs so I only need one more semester before I can apply for the nursing ...

  5. Survey: Would you pay $43,000 to a College to become an RN in 22 months?

Hmm, I think you overlooked it. If you go to the nevada board of nursing page and click on "Annual Reports", you'll find it :) Here's the link I found it on: http://www.nursingboard.state.nv.us/annual%20reports/ Doesn't look like they have 07's data...
  6. I'm a single fulltime father who works fulltime. By the time I'm an RN, I'll be able to do things much easier due to different types of shifts (3x12's, etc.), but for now, I'm doing what I can to get done with the AAS/ADN. I've read a bit about Exce...
  7. ARG! Considering dropping classes while I can...

Hmm.. that would suck about the no refund =/ But yeah, I can't really take either of the science ones. I am also taking Nursing Terminology and that class is completely self-paced so I'm not behind on anything yet.. It's only a credit, but it's ...
  8. The reason I started school was because a side business I was working with someone on, got sidetracked and it looked like things were over. I'm a fulltime single dad, commute 2 hours every day to the dayjob, work the side job, and have 9 credits (2 l...
  9. ARG! Considering dropping classes while I can...

Luckily I haven't been accepted into NS yet, just taking pre-reqs. The 2 hour commute is to work, but school is just right down the street. Like the above poster said.. wanting to get into CRNA school down the road, I can't have C's clogging up the G...

  12. A "dating female students in your class" post

The only thing in nursing school I could ever think of loving would be a passing NCLEX score
  13. Hah, I'm a Type-A personality with ADD who's an eternal optimist lol.. Running out of enthusiasm is out of the question As for the material stuff.. truth be told I'd be happy being able to pay the bills and toss some cash in the bank doing somethin...
  14. Survey: Would you pay $43,000 to a College to become an RN in 22 months?

Looks like their last grad rate (according to AZ BON NCLEX records: http://www.azbn.gov/NCLEX.aspx) was 11/13 or 84.62%. Not amazing, but definitely an improvement over their earlier scores..
  15. You know there was a quote in that Kevin Spacey movie American Beauty that I'll never forget: "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in." When I was a teenager going through some extr...
  16. You know someone else said something about this kid that was very special. They said just because we see him as different, doesn't mean HE sees himself as different. That reminds me of that 9year old boy you mentioned. What's completely unthinkable...
  17. God, that's so tragic =/ Yeah.. I may be built differently there.. Those kids make a grown man like me cry.. it puts life in such a spotlight that you can't help but come face to face with your own mortality. I'm a fulltime single dad and get a lot...
  18. I remember when I was around 19 or so and I was out in the working world and getting on my own... Everyone was always so negative about life. Always so stressed. I remember that I had planned on spending at least 1 hour a week on a street corner wit...
  19. Interesting article that came today.. if you've ever dealt with either company (although the same), Apollo College is especially hard on recruiting. http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/0116biz-apollogroupsuit16-ON.html Perception is reality ...
  20. Ah found it :) http://www.azbn.gov/documents/nclex/RN%20NCLEX%20Quarterly%20Reports%20Q3%202007.pdf Unfortunately it looks like UoP has had 3 straight rounds of 100% failure rates =/ I don't see any 07 scores so I wonder if they've since cancelled th...
  21. I don't think you read the bottom :) I am hopeful they do get the accreditation here in AZ.. Any more alternatives to the other programs out there are great to have. Here in AZ, there are less than a handful of colleges with online/alternative progr...
  22. Chandler/Gilbert CC???

I'm taking the same classes (if you're taking 181) and you're right. Bio is interesting, but chemistry is going to be a bit of a chore
  23. Chandler/Gilbert CC???

I've heard some bad things about their Fellows program (most folks seemed to infer that the MCC one was by far less problematic), I'd do a search and check that out :) I'm planning on taking Microbiology and A&P I there next semester. I'll keep ...
  24. In my Nursing Terminology class, I have the option to take a pass/fail or an actual letter grade. I'm not able to really find any documentation saying why one would be better than the other, aside from personal preference. Have any of you found a rea...
  25. Hmm, good to know. I'm looking to transfer to ASU for my BSN and then onto a CRNA program later.. that's why I'm picky than I probably should be. I think I'll have it switched to a letter grade.. I could see that happening and I'd hate to have to re...
