I think Troy has a good reputation, or at least it used to, in GA. For CA, local brick-and-mortar is the way to go. CA is NOT friendly to the online, "Mill-NP schools." Avoid West Coast and RUN from United States University. Both are mills, especially USU. Most of the state schools should be good. I'd recommend a school that has "on-site intensives" or OSCEs, so you can MEET your faculty and other student colleagues. Good luck! You are smart to do your due dillegence! ?

Yes, this is an unfortunate reality of so many schools moving to online education. The credentialing bodies (CCNE, for example) do require that schools "help" students find preceptors, but it's a very loose term. Schools say that they are helping when they do something like your school did, which is not much help! Preceptorlink has been great for a lot of students. And I've worked with them as a preceptor. I know an NP owns it, and they have been around for a long time. Hopefully, you find your own, but if not, I'd try them. And, I agree, don't hesitate to reach out to colleagues!

I'm so sorry that it's so hard! It's very competitive in CT. A couple of ideas: Can you use/get a license in another state and stay with a family member, friend or Airbnb to get it done. CT is not a Compact State, but other states are, so that can work for some people. Have you tried using a company like PreceptorLink? They are NP owned and I know they have helped a lot of people. They are the best company out there. Yes, it costs money, but at least you can proceed. Good luck! It's hard!
