NurseJ88 - I am starting a position in tele in Jan 08 as well! I graduated May 07 and have been working since June as an RN at a very large Trauma 1 hospital in Florida. I am in a rotation program and did 6 weeks in the tele unit. It is very fast paced and really overwhelming at first but it gets better. It's scary getting your first patients going on cardiac drips and such, but tele is a great way to get amazing experience with sicker patients than on some other non-critical care floors! Good luck! WOAH! That is a scary thought. I just graduated in May, and I had 12 full weeks of orientation in Med/Surg. Dear Lord, if they told me I had 4 weeks, I would laugh at them, look at them like they were crazy, and walk out and NEVER turn back. I once heard someone say that you could tell how much a hospital cares by their orientation program. I'd say this hospital either is completely confused and thinks you are a very experienced nurse, or they haven't a clue about a proper orientation length. If I were you, I'd go searching for a hospital that cared about your safety, the safety of your patients, and your overall sanity!!!

Hi all! I am an RN in Florida, and will be starting a new job in IN in January. I sent in my application for endorsement about a week ago (Dec 1). Does anyone know the next step in the process? Do I just wait around for them to approve it and then get an IN license sent in the mail? I called the IN Board of Nursing and asked them if I would have a license by Jan if I applied last week, and the lady told me yes. I just am getting worried now that I may not have an IN license in time! If anyone knows anything about this process, please let me know! Thanks so much! Sara

Brookie, I am in Florida right now 2 semesters from graduation and am planning to move straight to Chicago as well! I used to live there and my boyfriend got a job downtown so more than likely, my home will be downtown. Let me know any info you find! We're in the same boat! (only mine leaves 2 semesters later) I've heard many good things about Northwestern and Rush. I dunno if you've ever been to Chicago but I love love love it! Good luck!!

Hi! I still have 2 semesters to go until graduation, but I have a question. I will be graduationg from a program in Florida, but want to move to Chicago asap after graduation. I have been running myself ragged trying to figure out if I have to take the NCLEX in Florida, or if I can go and take them in Chicago. I have NO clue about these things, and also have no clue if I have to do something special to say I want my license to be in Illinois. Sorry if this is elementary stuff, but I am SO lost and getting so stressed out wondering how long it will take and what it will take to get working as a grad nurse and then RN in Illinois. If anyone can enlighten me, I'd love it!! Thanks!! Sara
